Recently joined your patreon and I love this video. I think we also have to start the conversation on how a lot of luxury brands are racist. We will never be free from systems of oppression and violence by contributing to things that are built off of our labor.

I went back to this video because this movement has seem a bit of a up burst as of late on Twitter. The “Black Feminity” or “Black Soft Girl” or “Black Luxury” movement has been questionable because like you said a lot of it is rooted in classism and trying to fit into a space that was not created for us (peak conservative Eurocentric feminine ideals). I feel like this movement was created to push back on the “hoodrats” in our community, which have always had it bad because black women from the hood or “ghetto” black women are so multifaceted and deserve to be treated with respect/loved. The issue isn’t that we aren’t soft or luxurious enough, but that people just hate black women. Trying to appease or fit into more respectable aesthetics will never change that, nor will it make you seem more feminine or worthy than the “ratchets” of the world.
