that’s one thing that always throws me off with diving into abolition, the idea that we must let go of punishment in favor of uplifting the victim. if you ask me if I want my abuser roaming around going about their life, even if it is a terrible life, as long as the world focuses on making sure im okay and “uplifted”(what does that look like?) I would say hell no, they don’t deserve a life period and one thing about abusers if they do it once they will continue to do it again. I do think the focus should shift more to the victim because yes in the grand scheme their abuser being sent to prison does nothing to change what happened but completely eradicating punishment, I just cannot get behind that im sorry.And twitter is not a good place to have those kind of conversations especially considering the fact that a lot of the top abolition accounts have been exposed for having abusers in their circle. I don’t believe everyone can nor should be rehabilitated.
