To be fair, I met the person I’ve been with for 4.5 years while I was 18 and he was 31. We met on Tindr. Both of families are fully acquainted with each other, I have a full time job in higher ed and he has his own law practice. I’m 23 now, and generally don’t hang out with people in my age group. There were definitely inappropriate things in my past regarding abuse inside and outside of my house that made me “grow up” faster so to speak, but it’s just very difficult for me to relate to a lot people my age. I’m comfortable voicing opinions and concerns with him and I feel listened to and respected in my relationship. Two of the things that attracted me to him were his maturity and his honesty. Age gaps relationships can definitely be weird and should be checked out by people’s loved ones, but generally I think people should be left alone if they’re both consenting adults who aren’t related or working together in some capacity.
