I was sooo ready to see Hiss/MEGAN win best rap song/rap album & Supernatural by Ariana off ES win something. Those two songs are on the opposite sides of the spectrum in regards to subject matter but they are sooo good. Sigh.

It'd be hilarious if she breaks yet another record and takes home 9 grammys in one night but I can't see it happening. Maybe for act iii that'll happen. I love Rihanna but the thing she has to "pull from" is what most singers do: A switch in image. Music of the Sun to Good Girl Gone Bad is a major success in pulling off a diff image. Not everyone can do it but many have lol so the comparison to Tyla really doesn't make sense bc Tyla hasn't switched up her image yet!

CC is one of the best selling albums of 2024 though. People who enjoy country music tend to buy albums not streams. Which is why someone like Ariana can be strong on streaming but not sales. Which is why it isn't in the best selling albums of the year ( top 10).

"eternal sunshine" was a 'here, damn!' album for fans. ariana said herself that she originally didn't want to drop music until after both wicked movies came out which would've been end of 2025 / early 2026 because she's focused on wicked & doesn't plan on touring anytime soon. however, the strike happened so she had some time for music and fans kept pressing her about new music because it had been four years which is a long time for her because we're used to getting new music from her every year or every two years max. I'm not surprised that ES is not being pushed heavy by the academy because she didn't work this album.

I actually said the same thing about the AOTY. I said this was her strongest year tbh. And seeing how multiple voters across genres voted for her. I mean the melodic rap nomination and bodyguard for pop was extremely unserious. Those are my songs don’t get me wrong. Bodyguard especially because what? Like Bodyguard over a Taylor Swift record? Over an Ariana record? So Ariana isn’t getting anything. Levii Jeans beat out Fortnight?? Idk if Taylor will get anything (she absolutely shouldn’t). I don’t think they will give Taylor pop album. It’s only ever been one twice. I just don’t see doing a back to back run despite being a competitive category. I feel like if you have a pop album nom, the chances of you winning lowers. If it is going to previous winner, I’d guess Billy since she is a Grammy darling. I feel like they’d sooner give billy her second than Taylor a 3rd one. They didn’t give it to Adele for 30 despite her being a Pop Grammy queen. So I just don’t see Taylor winning that. That’s my logic for song of the year as well with Billy because 3 song of the year out 5 and the first time someone won it 3 times AND a consecutive win? They might go another way. I doubt it will be Shaboozey even thought it should be, but there are too many writers on that song and it being an interpolation will hurt it in the eyes of the songwriters. Bruno also has two and Dmile has two that weakens their chances as well Die with a Smile. I’d give it to Chappell. I also want Doechii to win, but Eminem got nominated and he’s undefeated, so who even knows. Also how did the Jazz get two of their people in AOTY? Rock/R&B/Rap get paid dust but they got two Jazz albums in the mix? Crazy.

lol like that’s why I feel like Beyoncé has a chance this year. Because how did Bodyguard snatch a spot but not WCBF? Don’t get me wrong, I love Bodyguard more, but it was unserious for the pop grammy voters to pick a song that was not a hit song and on a country album…. Literally could have given a nom to Ariana or even Taylor (even though I don’t think she deserves it). But Beyoncé? So it either is Grammy voters are really excited about Cowboy Carter or they trying to undermine other people like Ariana.

Beyonce getting pop solo nom over her despite the fact that she made a pop album, and Beyonce did not. She already has two pop albums Grammies and that’s the most anyone’s ever won, and she already won last year.

I think it's because she's an independent artist. Megan Thee Stallion wasn't nominated for anything this year either and I figured it maybe because she went independent. idk how the Grammys works for artists who aren't signed.

Maybe I’m pessimistic but I think she will win AOTY for CC because there will be a lot of buzz on why she doesn’t deserve it . You’ll have the folks who say they stopped listening to CC and then the country “critics” who will say Beyoncé is not country enough for this to count as a country album winning AOTY.
