bimpe

Wow, right on time as usual. Thanks queen

Alissa Jadyn

I’m early as hell 😭

Sabdiel 𐚁

Not now Kenya 😭

isadora chatelain

Baby…we in dark times (I’m Canadian but i know we next)

Deidra

This hit me so hard that I called off work

Gabriel Benton

Hey Kenya. Love yall! This is a dark time but I believe we can overcome it.

Dairus Wilson

I kinda noticed she probably was going to lose, based off of all her bad press in the last few weeks before the election. like there seemed to be a interview every other day of her further alienating people who could have voted for her.

Riffy

Kenya, I know it’s low hanging fruit but as a Hive member… I’m so under the weather about the CEO of Hollywood Unlocked being MY city council member

a.sierra

i truly feel like all i can say is ‘chile…..’ 😭

a.sierra

i will be updating as many vaccines as i can before he takes office!!! i encourage everyone to do the same

Jalyn Jones

I thought I was ready to watch this but I am still in shock. I’ll be back in two weeks.

DariaanMichelle

I plan to get my nexplanon replaced before he takes office to hold me over until he gets out

Jayden Brown

what’s crazy is i work at a starbucks in myrtle beach south carolina. The deep south. And everyone i work with which is mainly white women all cry and complain about republicans and Trump. They’ve been in shambles talking about the anxiety all day. Yet around 70% of white women in the south are voting red. So at least 6 of yall voted Trump and lying. Everyone says leave your blue bubble but how if my family is liberal, my coworkers are liberal, and my friend group is young 20 something’s. It feels like we live in two separate worlds

Montgomery Price

been avoiding election talk all day but let me settle in

l.

i knew once she dropped that republicans would be invited into her cabinet a couple weeks ago it was a wrap.

Vic

Like I didn't think she'd win but a whole sweep with that clown court?! GENERATIONS of damage.

Elisha

Girl it’s so over for us. Pollievre is taking us to hell

l.

all for a few meemaw and peepaw votes mind you.... :(

Mycah

I needed this conversation Kenya

DWG

You speak facts the dems did not run a good campaign and Biden dropped out way too late in the game

emily

I saw that and couldn’t stop laughing 😭 just deeply unserious

Anastasia

I was just wondering what your thoughts on this was. Excellent video as always. I’m just sad. I did everything I could.

Mycah

We do and I’m not going back to living alongside them others.

emily

Walz and him calling Republicans weird was probably the best part about her campaign before they muzzled him 🎻🎻

Danielle A

As someone from the Philippines, it’s quite interesting to see the parallels between what happened with my fuckass country when we elected a dictator’s son after electing a drug warring populist last election cycle and the current happenings in the US.

Danielle A

It always just comes down to who can make the most tangible and hardest hitting promises.

India Barrow

Was just telling my friend this. Dems don’t STAND for anything! I vote for them because what my black ass look like voting for Trump but it’s more of a vote against one establishment and not FOR Dems. They don’t give voters anything to work with, anything to believe in. The republican party would exist without the democrats. The democrats have nothing if the republican party didn’t exist. It’s like they truly aren’t understanding this. And when people realize they still hate Trump and actually don’t wanna live under a republican regime, I don’t think Dems will be able to come back with the same moderate bullshit for midterms nor in 2028. They need a new gameplan.

Aisha Shoneye

Kenya you were right. I didn't want to believe it but you were right 😩

mari

this is exactly what i've been trying to tell people about the latino turnout for trump. a lot of it is based in hatred, but it's also a lot of people who are struggling and looking back at their lives in 2019 and wanting some of that security back. they don't care for international affairs, deportation, prison reform, climate change, education, health care, or any of the other glaring red flags surrounding trump. people are poor, uneducated, and grasping at straws hoping trump will turn things around, even though he's only going to make things worse. it really sucks it's come to this

Vic

Dems couldn't even agree on abortion until it was repealed. Just a sorry party. Throwing everyone under the bus except billionaires .

Reyhan

When I woke up this morning.. I hit snooze on my alarm because I didn’t wanna see the news yet. Something in my spirit knew I wasn’t prepared

Birdie Wolf

Biden would have lost real bad. That dude was barely coherent. He made everybody depressed. There was no way folks would show up for Biden. Like I doubt Biden would have gotten those votes that Kamala received.

Danielle A

And yes this is a numbers game let’s be practical!!!

rudi!!!

I'm half Filipino and I visited in 2019, but I had no idea politics over there has been THAT insane since then?! I know about Duterte's presidency, but who's the dictator's son??? also, do US elections affect PH??? I honestly lose sight of how our country's politics screws up other countries

Danielle A

Girl the son of former president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos!!!

Ashlen P

Monkeys at a keyboard then the typing pure sent me 😭😭😭😭😭😭 honesty mixed with comedic relief, much needed. I just love your patreon

rudi!!!

truly honestly, what could she have possibly done in only 100 days??? idk WHY Biden didn't drop out sooner, but even still, we've drifted SO far to the right overall as a country from the podcasts ppl consume to the streamers ppl watch daily to the influencers we follow (trad wives, SAHM glamorizing, cottagecore, etc.). I don't think any singular Dem candidate could've overcome that, sadly 😔 it's demoralizing bc even though we (meaning Black ppl) show up at the polls consistently for Democrats, not only do Dems not give us much improvement in return, but if Republicans win, we stand to lose the few rights and protections that we DO have!!! I'll never vote red in my life, but I understand the disillusionment of why a lifelong Democrat would all I can do now is hope that the eventual leftward swing will be meaningful and not just empty words and phrases (but I'm afraid that there won't be another election, if trump has it his way :/)

Eboni Haynes

1) We needed a primary….might have been the exact outcome but we still needed one to see the numbers. 2) Lowkey…fixing a long standing two party system is not my ideal outcome. I am seeking a radical left party to mobilize behind. Moderate leaning democrats isn’t enough atp. They can have it. I researched every single party on my ticket. 3) mayhaps hould have picked Shapiro given how PA shook out but I think he would have done well 4) young male voters 😡 the “straight men suck” messaging is way more common and it shows in how they vote.

rudi!!!

you talking about how ppl believe in trump's campaign just made me miss Bernie Sanders in 2016 😭😭😭 I'm so mad I couldn't vote (too young) bc it was so inspiring to see working class ppl all rally around a cause that met their needs and could've made actual change!!! I rlly think that might've been the last shot for any slightly progressive rhetoric from the Democrats for the next few decades, I fear... Bernie was "too radical" (AKA he would improve workers' lives too much) for the DNC, so he got chopped for fuckass Hillary Bernie's statement in response to this election was biting and basically said bc the working class was neglected by the Dems, it's no wonder why the working class neglected the Dems at the polls #damn

rudi!!!

skimmed through the Wikipedia for Ferdinand Marcos and wtf 😭 Filipino politics is crazier than in the US!!!

Keith Primas

I think, fundamentally, having various factions in a political party is beneficial however with our presidential elections I think it backfires. Republicans are MAGA, there’s no ifs ands or buts. Democrats are several different groups and there are no core beliefs across the board. Like you mentioned, WHAT HAPPENED TO UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE?? Like we (Dems) all have to agree on SOMETHING. And when Kamala went full on pro-fracking during the debate I was like “Oh you have completely lost me.”

Dynasty Andrews

I knew Trump would win when he had those failed assassination attempts. America loves a good assassination attempt on a presidential candidate

Birdie Wolf

Yeah the numbers were a flop. Literally black people and non black POCs voted in this election compared to 2020. Also the thing with Harris’s campaign is that her appeals lowkey worked. She got more of the white vote than Biden. She got more than Obama did in 2012. More than Hillary in 2016. But she couldn’t get her base to come out the way they needed to come out. She lost the popular vote because everyone sat at home. Nobody checked into see if y’all were going to get 80 million people to show up. Millions of people did not show up. The dems need to look and see why they are missing in action. You didn’t need all of them to come back, but you need most. Yeah, there were some defections, but people just didn’t show up.

Dynasty Andrews

I feel like society has been swinging left for the past several decades and we’re seeing that pendulum swing all the way back to the right

Jayden Brown

like I never interact with trump supporters. I have no idea what’s going through any of their minds at all. Unless the white queer women at my job are telling lies and really trump supporters

DWG

Kenya in another life you would have been a great Olivia pope campaign manager/strategist

Selene

I’m an old head that remembers that democrats that act like they gaf about their actual base wins. People have been screaming at the clouds about democrats not trying to appeal to their own base since Obama’s 2nd term. People are more radicalized and unlike Republicans Democrats will not shift with their own base. They just thought they could coast off saying but at least we’re not Republicans forever.

Birdie Wolf

And you are right, part of the reason is nobody likes being a democrat these days. Democratic voters have a deep resentment towards the Democratic Party. We have nothing to look forward to. All they got is Trump is bad and so are the GOP. Even though we see the ways they’ve been trash too. We don’t have any wins. The party doesn’t stand for anything. We see them play these games over and over again and lose each and every time. Just for them to play it again. They have to stand for something. They got to campaign on something. You have to give people something to do.

Gabriella

You ain’t never lied Kenya 😭 the Democrats haven’t stood for much of shit in so long. Even now being mad/sad about dealing with Trump I can’t for the life of me give any sense of positive for the Dems outside of them being the lesser of two evils. It’s real bleak yall

Heidi Diaz

Omg yes Kenya! People are on the news and on twitter she ran a flawless campaign and I’m like huh?!?

euthyphro

not mentioning the literal genocide as a major reason people didn’t turn out is crazy. she lost michigan because of it

Heidi Diaz

We need to send this podcast to the democrats asap

Jayden Brown

white women so useless chile. A taylor swift endorsement and still nothing

Catlady972

I knew she wasn't going to win. But now that we are here...I'm already exhausted

B Ann

You always put things in perspective so well.

Jayden Brown

when kamala was asked point blank “should trans people have the right to gender affirming health care” and her response was i believe in the law follow the law. I knew then democrats in 2024 have nothing. They’ve gone so far right they can’t even say yes you can do what you want with your own body to queer people who want gender affirming care. Why is it controversial to say queer ppl should have access to life saving health care. It’s wasn’t untill they made it that way. They have no backbone !!!

Catlady972

I'm also going to say it right now. I've been saying it about the dumbass red state I live in. The next candidate needs to start holding rallies now. Throw out 3 people going around and speaking then we can pretend to pick one in the primaries. It's about building idols now

Imani Branch

i’m so hurt and delusional y’all i thought there was a miscount 😭

Wesley Lindsey

I knew we were cooked when they were hoping white women to pull through LOL

Liz Huerta

love your perspective kenya. i really needed this video. bc i feel like everyone is playing the blame game on twitter. Pointing the their finger ay everyone else but the Democrats. like the Democrats should have pulled out Biden sooner, had a primary, and had an actual message instead of cozying up to Republicans.

Wesley Lindsey

We essentially had to BULLY Joe Biden to drop out to give us a fighting chance. Less than 100 days to campaign against Trump is crazy. It was cooked from the start.

Wesley Lindsey

Dems should’ve BEEN had their next heir ready to replace Joe. They knew he was old! Did they forget there was gonna be an election this year??

Wesley Lindsey

Hot take: People clocking Latinos for Trump (as they should) but Latinos for Trump is the same as Black ppl for Dems. I’ll say it. Both dying for a side that USES them and gets nothing in return.

Wesley Lindsey

Dems were gonna lose solely for the fact that the votes they want are from people with morals and dignity. All they could do is lose numbers.

rudi!!!

I hope for my sake that you're wrong (but in my heart of hearts, you might be right) (I just wanna be delusional and slightly hopeful 😭)

Wesley Lindsey

2 recessions, a pandemic, groceries are thru the ROOF, kids are target practice at school. Real life PROBLEMS. This is about SURVIVAL . The Dems told us NO plan about it. 100 days of campaigning saying you aren’t Trump is just as bad as having concepts of a plan!

Wesley Lindsey

Kamala said to our faces were not getting reparations and they scolded black men (their 2nd largest and 2nd most consistent voter base) for the handful that didn’t want to support you lmao. They have a right to be mad!!

carmelo jose

Greetings from Panama🇵🇦 to my American friends. Strange times are coming for you in the US. I have spoken with my relatives and they are very sad. This is the first time I have seen them so disappointed. In my opinion, I was taken by surprise by the results. I thought Kamala would be that push for Democrats to go out and vote.

sam mcphillips

everything you said is exactly what i’ve been saying all day!! to see liberals on my timeline be genuinely surprised by this outcome is bewildering. i feel like we don’t live in the same reality.

J S

she got her white women numbers. she got her numbers for white men and black voters. she collapsed with latinos.

J S

she ran a good enough campaign in this red environment. she def saved democrats from an embarrassing night where they would’ve lost safe blue states

J S

voters voted against ranked voting choice

J S

this was going to happen regardless i fear

Elizabeth Irino

The logic of your words is just so comforting. I know it doesn’t get us out of the current situation, but idk it just helps put into perspective for me what some of the key issues the democrats have with getting people out to vote. Some of the messaging Kamala had (with the guns, with the republicans across the aisle) at the time i was thinking okay maybe she knows where she’s going with this, but obviously she very much did not know where she was going with it.

Raoul Christian Carlos

You are 100% correct! I also feel like the democrats fail to address the root of the issue to regular people's suffering, which is the ECONOMY. They are too scared or too unwilling to offer any economic reform that will really lift people up, and as a result they have nothing inspiring to the average joe to run a campaign on. The same thing is true here in Sweden or other European countries where the far right has been gaining ground. Liberalism has run its course, it's dead. People are suffering too much.

J S

i was honestly pretty upset about her losing. i thought she did pretty well campaign wise. but i see your perspective. i can see why some of her moves weren’t as good. it honestly sucks but we gotta do what we gotta do.

Abbie Nunez

As a south tx mexican, I'm so upset. The RGV counties are historically blue, but they turned red this election. I feel sick and I feel tired. This community is poor. My community is filled with undocumented and lower income people who will be directly affected by the outcome of this election. We are already overpoliced (gonna be worse with mass deportations). Spacex is fucking up our community (rising cost of living). Most people can't afford their rent. I'm hours and hours and hours away from access to an abortion. The list goes on and on and on. I woke up today feeling unempathetic and cynical. And its not in my nature to be that way. I feel so uncomfortable. I make good money. I'm gonna be fine tomorrow, but some of these people who voted for Trump won't be. And I don't like othering myself. I don't like only "caring about myself." I love my community. I want us to all be okay.

Sammy J

I am not American so don’t know in’s & out but you make total sense. I was up to 7am my time watching the dam thing & my country has elections now in end of November & they didn’t even bother start campaigning until American one was over. That said there a really a serious concern that DT victory could encourage fringe groups to get more votes here. Crazy how it all ties together

Vic

It's been a lot of doom and gloom and tears from vids i saw. I'm anxious but you're the first to state it plainly and that gives me confidence. Ty 💙

Eve

For me, Kenya, this is one of your best commentaries. I have many well educated white friends who voted denocrat and they are all in shambles right now. I voted for Kamala because I fall into the same demo you are and just like you, I knew Trump was about to win. My friends -bless them for real- focus their energy on abstract ideals and thats wonderful however, people need milk. At the end of the day people needed something to BELIEVE in and Kamala (Democrats) didn't deliver and haven't delivered for some time.

Wesley Lindsey

We’ve literally been “voting for the lesser of two evils” since 2016. A pandemic and a recession later, people are tired and broke!

Wesley Lindsey

People have been saying straight males are trash for the past 10 years. All it did was push them right.

Joy O

but what i dont get is what could kamala have done more to give ppl sentiment, especially with the short time she had

Janais

I agree with you about her campaign and you clarified how this happened but I’m still so shocked. I live in MA I had hope that the rest of the country wouldn’t side with someone so hateful. People are really devastated here. Things will get bad and I will not be using my energy to feel bad for anyone who voted for him.

Chris

Education polarization means Democrats are becoming too socially liberal and fiscally conservative. They have to drop one or the other fast. They need to be more populist and less PC.

Chris

Correct. But with the incoming court, that’s never happening. They need to run on court expansion tbh and then ram through populist policies.

Rainy Feathers

Isn't Trump supposed to be in trouble?

Blank Page

Idk I thought she had a good campaign given the short amount of time she was given but you make some good points. Looking back now, I do agree that the democrats have a messaging problem. This actually has me so so upset. I really wanted to see a woman in the Oval Office and I hope we keep trying until we get there.

Alexis

I completely agree with you. It was like she was trying to play influencers

Joy O

another key point is her identity, we can't act like her being black and woman wasn't a key reason why she lost too. even if she ran the perfect campaign, a lot of trump voters would never vote for a black woman

Angelique

I think the campaign was good. I think she also ran on sentiments or caring for your neighbor. They don't care about that though. She addressed the economy, she ran on hope and "not going back". She ran on women's rights. Why is that not enough? It's crazy that it's not enough

MsGoddess

You hit it on the nail. I think democrats are unwilling to stand on health care for all, funding public schools etc bc they are too scared to let go of their corporate backing. You can’t serve two masters and every election they made clear the one they will serve. Also I cannot for the life of me why the Democratic Party is not strategic. Like she had 3 months 3 months bc they stood by Biden for years when ppl told them that is a bad move.

Boipelo Motsomi

The democrats paid way too much attention to social media instead of actually talking to everyday Americans on the ground.

Dejavu

This is the main reason actually… trump did not run a good campaign either… neither one of them offered anything so trump won because he’s a white man. If the dems put Pete or Gavin in there - dems would have won

Art Moroyoqui

Yeah I got lost in the sauce and didn’t take a step back to realize she was running a losing campaign. It was the third time Democrats run the “I’m not Trump!” ticket and she had nothing else to run on without bad-mouthing the Biden admin. Now Trump gets everything he wants cuz Democrats count get people up to vote. We had about half the blue voters we had in 2020 here in California. But all the red ones were up.

Jade White

If it was all about her identity then how come we lost the senate and the house too? If you guys keep leaning on the -ism excuse we’re gonna lose in 2028 again too

Queen Jasz

They played in Tim’s face. They sent Tim to a small high school here in my city and NOBODY knew about it. The only way I knew is bc my mom works at the school 😒🤦🏾‍♀️

Queen Jasz

Emphasis on most of them niggas dont vote ! Bc everytime somebody talk about BM and voting I’m like they don’t even be voting frfr 🫣

Davonte

Just adding to this, I noticed that over the past months I've started to develop a bit of disdain for the hardcore democrats/kamala supporters. Especially when she was being criticized for not having much of a campaign and her comments about guns and Israel, and people were being scolded for being skeptical of her. The disdain honestly started to build closer to the election and we just got more of democrats dropping the ball. It really really bothered me how willing people were to just go with the flow and not take her campaign to task for their refusal to stand for anything. On top of that, how quickly people started stanning her. It was disheartening to realize 1) how low the bar was for democrats, and 2) that I could not see a world where she actually became president. She just did not have the "umph" and messaging to carry someone to the american presidency. I think if people are being honest, they'll admit they've never been super moved by her policies or speeches. Compared to trump; he MOVES people for better or worse. In an election where you need to get people to go out of their way rather than stay home, kamala/the democrats were never going to win with this campaign.

Dani

He was on a slippery slope from day one.

Ian

I don’t think Dems cared to win. They ran an antiquated campaign after clapping their hands over their ears to ignore the based outrage over Joe Biden as the nominee. They only dropped Biden after big time donors stopped donating. This party is more of a circus than the Republicans— Republicans are organized and even the bumbling ones like MTG only help their cause by mucking everything up. Dems need new blood and new identity. Ditch the Ivy League grads and get someone exciting for god’s sake. I would nominate my mom if she’d been born here

Tirzah

The DNC literally told us our voice did not matter and fall in line when they decided to not have a primary. Joe and Kamala had no chance. The party was warned for two years, give the people someone or something new. On the other side, the RNC primaried and chose TJD. There’s enthusiasm when you have choice. The MAGAs seemed awfully confident and boisterous this election and now we see why.

Dani

I’m still numb/heartbroken over this, only because I truly hoped that people would stand up and be on the right side of history FOR ONCE. But alas, the sheer amount of people showing who they are didn’t surprise me (after I stopped crying 😭). Biden would not have surived at all this election run. For the amount of time she had, Kamala did pretty well. She had to scramble through to get everything done and left a lot out. The main topic being abortion/reproductive rights ok great! My niece and I were just discussing this. Advocating for abortion/reproductive health rights is fantastic! But what else did she have?????

Gabrielle Cole

I loveee the Patreon club but I almost wish this was posted on youtube cause you’re sooo well-spoken and I would love to share around. But thanks for concisely putting my jumbled thoughts into one video!

J S

this country shifted right she adjusted for that shift bit voters just wanted trump i fear.

Colette

this country is center right. that’s where bernie fell short. yea healthcare for all sounds good but realistically this country won’t vote for that

Colette

but the question is, what will trump realistically do for Gaza?

Ayanna

If we're being real - we should've seen the writings on the wall when minority groups, like Asians, got Affirmative Action at colleges stripped away, and how other minority groups reacted to the new wave of immigrants. Add on to that COVID and inflation and you have a recipe for disaster if you're trying to pander. Now was not the time to play second-fiddle to MAGA.

Ayanna

I'm with you - usually I am not one to lack on empathy, but after the initial shock, horror, rage, and sorrow I felt on the 6th and 7th, now I just feel empty, very "whatever happens, will happen and that's it." I don't wish ill on anyone and all the libs that are disgust me, but I'm not going to be shocked when the inevitable happens.

MsGoddess

I do agree especially based off how California voted on slavery that the country is shifting more right but I think other policies would have been compelling. A higher minimum wage? Strengthening unions? Expanding social security? Affordable housing?

Erica Howard

imagine a world where the DNC listened to their core base, black women. chile…..

Bria Hall

I knew she wasnt going to win from the begin either. But when she came out as pro fracking and the pro Israel, I knew it was over.

Manna Steel

At the debate when she was talking about guns it really threw me…like tbh Kamala is giving normal republican likeee ? I feel like she’s a republican but compared to trump she’s more democratic

AJ

I think she ran an awesome campaign. Half of America is racist

AJ

Kamala addressed every major concern Americans had (economy, working class, middle class, immigration, health care social services, etc.). She did excellent for the little time she had but she has to work harder to convey a message being a Black Woman. Trump is White so he can say anything and most Americans will believe him. He has no real plan for the country. He is a con artist. Kamala inspired me!

AJ

All of her policies are on her website and she addressed healthcare, the economy, immigration. Trump has no plan for America

AJ

People want words of security even though subconsciously they know Trump really can’t do much for them.

Dani

I’m not even talking about her website, I’m talking about her campaign videos, ads, her rally speeches. Most of them centered around that ONE subject, which is reproductive rights and healthcare for women. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “the government control over women’s bodies” or similar phrasing. Which again, that’s great for the people/women who care about that. But what else did she publicly focus on for people to root for?

Halimat

Y’all in the comments telling Yourselves she ran a great campaign and i mean ??? We all gotta cope but at some point we gotta wrestle with reality.

Vee

Literally that blew me cause wasn’t there another school shooting days before the debate aired?? Wym you’re not gonna take anybody’s guns away??

Shav

Good points. She should of hired someone like you for their campaign strategist

Sofia

So well said. This should’ve been so easy for democrats to win but oh well.
