Everybody in town called him the Old Artificer. Noone knew whether he was an elf, a gnome, a goblin or just a weird old human. They all liked his useful inventions like the cold flatiron or the backward walking sticks. To get help with his daily chores, he constructed a Wooden Golem. While the golem was busy washing dishes and laboratory equipment, the Artificer could focus on studying an arcane book he had bought at a flea market, which turned out to be a fire elemental summoning manual. The townsfolk never learned about the real origins of the Great Fire of 1309, because the Artificer hastily whipped up a Clay Golem, who followed the frivolously dancing Fire Elemental and eventually extinguished it by jumping on it and turning itself into a pile of dirt.
