While the Tuners are regarded as peacekeepers in matters of technology and artificial intelligence in joint operations with alien governments galaxy-wide. As a rule they do not interfere in matters of war unless it involves their didact.

They do, however, train gifted soldiers in the craft of Tuning. Five years of intense training, meditation, learning to make weapons from hardlight constructs, finding harmony and balance in the confluence of the mind and the synthetic. It's not a discipline most soldiers can learn, but those who succeed are mythologized into war heroes.

Such was the case with Ory'el, often portrayed as the young sidekick and protege of hardened Federation heroes like Kyth Vagar.
