A long awaited(?) follow-up (Patreon)

Ahoy there, hope you all are having a fine Saturday.

I want you to do me a favor. Think back, way back. We’re gonna go for a little voyage back in time.

The world was different. Miley Cyrus had the #1 song. Avatar was the #1– wait, no… Yeah, no that’s… that actually was January 2023.

Anyway.

Just stick with me here, ‘cause this is necessary.

Remember that post about "Galaxy of Scum"? The short version: GoS is a combination of art and webcomic that parallels Yuki: Space Assassin in a lot of ways: themes, artists, audio, etc. It’d be a lie to say there weren’t issues and ambiguities about source and inspiration at the start. But this post made a lot of people angry, on both sides of the aisle. Passions were high, and there really was no resolution before the eyes of our Patrons and Discord members.

But behind the scenes, Cryo, the creator, has been open about the similarities for a while now and has admitted to me that he made mistakes when he first began.

That was January 2023. This is August 2023.

I’m relieved to report that Cryo and I have shot the shit periodically since then. The vibe between us now is chill, and our focus is on our respective productions and producing quality content for you all. With my main concerns addressed, I moved on to other things.

And seeing my server was quiet about It, I assumed everyone had moved on. A post like this wouldn't be necessary. The last thing I wanted to do was bring up old shit. Folks had moved on.

Right?

Look, ongoing drama is a cheap way to stir up engagement. Tooby McYouTuber doesn’t pick a fight with Streamy Streaminson because they’re big mad at each other. They do it because they want folks to pick sides and say their name (#STREAMYISVALID). That’s not me. I don’t think that’s Cryo, either.

A joint post like this shouldn’t be necessary, yet here we are. ‘Cause some folks just can’t move the fuck on. They like drama. They like keeping a grudge alive for months so they can pick sides. And boy howdy, do they enjoy bringing their petty bullshit into other places. Like servers outside our control.

Neither Cryo nor I are omnipotent. We can’t see what ‘fans’ are doing everywhere at any given time. And you know what? We shouldn’t have to.

So this is us saying it’s over. It’s done. Finished. It’s an ex-issue. Please, move the fuck along.

If someone wants to carry a torch and a pitchfork for their pissball anger issues and lob it at either Yuki or GoS, and we find out about it because you’re dumb enough to do it in their Discord? We will ban you.

Because this is us — me, Sadistic Dreamer, and Cryo_HQ — denouncing anyone who looks to keep this going.

And look. We both fulfill a niche that is in dire need of quality content. You really want to deny your jollies the ability to look at both projects because you want to tilt at windmills?

As we both grow, develop our respective projects, and hopefully continue to diverge in exciting and interesting new ways, we encourage you to focus on the positives. The internet is a big fucking place. There is space enough for both for everyone to enjoy without picking sides.

Tl;Dr: Sadistic and Cryo have buried the hatchet, smoked some space weed to seal their armistice, and now ask the fans to do the same thing. With or without space weed. Your choice, tbf.
