- No Haven
New aspects and reworking the old ones has been rather time consuming to put it lightly. The old setup had a ton of unnecessary bloat and repeated text so I've also been changing pretty much all of the old ones along as adding all the new ones.
Still been making progress and most of what I'd call the long drawn out drudge work which I'm sure hasn't been super interesting to watch on the streams has been pretty much done.
Hoping to still get the update out at the end of the month though it's going to be tight as there's a great deal to be done. Will see how things go.
- The No Haven Conversion
This keeps going worryingly well...
I'd say that most of the commands now have been converted from what I can work out.
I've also tested some of how I've handled the object/variable/array conversions from how they worked in RAGS and it seems like Twine understands them. Wish I'd known that was possible for WR and not been told by what I thought were more knowledgeable people back then that it was impossible. Still plenty of water under the bridge since then and I wouldn't have even a tenth of the experience with regular expressions as I would have other wise.
One thing I've finished off yesterday was the item display names which involved some of the most complicated regexps I've done with 50 and more replaces. So glad those are now sorted I think.
As it was asked about on the conversion stream last night the very, very rough road map is to convert everything in one go to as much as possible to mirror the content of the last update.
Then once that's done and the conversion seems to have worked out I'll suspend RAGS development and work on converting what ever updates take place between now and then.
After that development will continue in the Twine version.
Of course there's a great deal of potential pitchforks, disasters, unseen complications, and other unexpected events that could be lurking. Like I could convert everything import it and have Twine crash or have memory errors and the like. Do have some ideas in that event, but will cross that potential bridge that may or may not be on fire when I get to it.
I'm still not entirely sure how to handle displaying all the information though again I do have some ideas on that front.
- Commissions
At last the cheerleaders are confirmed! Very happy to have that sorted out at last and I've now seen two sketches. Think it looks pretty promising with the team logo especially being way better than what I was thinking of.
Also at last news on the Asanei maid! With some wonderful timing I got an email form the artist just this morning. It's all fully confirmed and with luck I'll be getting a look at the first sketch in a few days.
Alternate monthly commission poll is still in progress with another five days left to vote. I've been noticing that while the number of actual patrons has remained steady or has trended upwards (which is appreciated!), the number of votes have been dropping a bit in the last few months. So as the next main commission poll is coming up let me know if you have any themes you'd like to see more of or if you have any suggestions on that front.
I was thinking about doing a special new races only one like I did with the True-Angel last year as I got a really good inspiration of how to handle sphinxes in the setting as a new race from a patron (not actually at all the way they thinking at all but hey thems the breaks :D ) and then helped fleshed out by those on the discord.
I do though really want to get closer to having at least one commission for all the existing races before I start thinking about new ones. So expect to see more goblin, hakh-dwarven, legion, convent and the like in the near future. There's also some like Horned Ones and orcs that have technically had one but could do with a far more representative look for them in the setting.
- Picarto
All of these will be at the usual time of 22:30 BST outside of the odd occasional one where I need to catch up and so start an hour earlier or change the planned day.
I've finally caught up with Iwara after badly losing track and I'm currently working my way through all the ones that have caught my interest. Got 130 MMDs, 4 NonHs (ones that aren't Hentai, MMD, or SFM), and one entertaining mix of both MMD and SFM ready to convert. Then I've got another 93 still to get through. After that I'll be adding these to the streaming shuffles and then aiming to catch up on both AMVs and HMVs that have come out since the last time I check on them.
Bit more of a chance of schedule than usual in the next two weeks but I should be able to get the full 10 hours +3 each week.
