Greetings Patrons,

Sometimes there's a reason that it is the road less traveled.

I was dreaming up this scenario where a party has a long distance to cover, and one member (we all know it was the bard) pipes up and tells everyone he knows a shortcut. This is the first part of a tale in which there's good news and bad news. The good news is that it will cut days off their journey. The bad news is they might all die.

Treacherous Path is that moment when you think long and hard about your priorities, and whether arriving late is preferable to arriving in pieces.

The ambience here is dark and foreboding. Eerie winds, strange atmospheric events, lava pits, and winged demons. A bit like my last trip to a big box store.

Musically this is just as dark. Heavy low strings, tortured synths, and fractured vocals. There's a bit of a progression to the piece, I was trying to make it feel like phases of a journey. The ending almost feels like you might make it.

This track would work well to introduce a dangerous setting in fantasy, horror, or even scifi.

As this track is in Patreon-only sneak peek mode, I've included the mixed version, as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here. Additionally, I created two 'no creature' versions that make it more barren and desolate. I hope you find these useful additions.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim
