Greetings Patrons,

I sat down this week to write a piece in 5/4, mostly as a challenge. For non-musicians, that means there are 5 beats in a measure (quarter note getting 1 beat). It's not too far out, but considering that 90% of music is written in 4/4 it does have a bit of an unsettling vibe to it.

As I continued to write, I found that the music had an elegant quality to it. Hmm..elegance, unsettling...what could this be?

Piano, harp, celeste, and chamber orchestra all work together, and often against each other. Dissonance adds to the unease.

Musically, this is about revelation. It's about walking into an opulent room and seeing a vampire lying in 'state'. The dawning of awareness, the slow raising of the eyebrows,  a barely audible "ohh, sh*t".

The ambience is extremely understated as it's an empty room except for some distant floorboard creaks of the vampire's attendants. Wind and wolves howl outside. A fire is lit, but it's for the living. An old grandfather clock beats out the millennia, one tick at a time.

As this is in Patreon-exclusive sneak peak mode, I've included the mixed-version (live on the site next week) as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions. Additionally, I created 2 alternate ambiences, one without the clock (even though it's very quiet) and one has a light rain outside and a bit more thunder. I hope you find these useful.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

This is some damned fine work, Tim! The music is subtle yet powerful and really sets a nice tone!

Sorry, I know this isn't really affiliated to TableTopAudio, but does anyone know how to log in as a patron in Kenku Audio? For some reason I get redirected to the website, but it won't log in in the application (on PC). Am I missing something?
