New Ambience: Whispering Caverns (Patreon)

Greetings Patrons,
Ever since I saw the 1959 classic, Journey to the Center of the Earth with James Mason, I've been a sucker for stories that take characters deep underground. It's as if the plot writes itself. It's dark, it's dangerous and it's not a dungeon. (Of course I love dungeons).
There's an almost sacred aspect to Whispering Caverns. I imagined it as a resting place (prison?) for lost souls. Perhaps it's your job to free them, or just listen to what they have to say. Maybe the spirits are guardians of an even deeper secret.
The ambience here is full of hollow cavernous rumbles and eerie spirits whispering. I got to use this excellent piece of new software called Sound Particles which is a 3D audio environment. It allows you to place a virtual microphone among hundreds, or even thousands of particles - where each particle is a piece of audio. The particles can move, rotate, and change in pitch, duration, and distance from the microphone. It's really quite amazing and I've only scratched the surface of what it can do.
For the music, I went with a kind of 'destroyed' orchestra vibe. There are metallic clangs and some low, breathy vocal textures to go along with the whispers. Through it all there are string melodies that occasionally peak through, only to be subsumed once again by the darkness.
I wouldn't call it overly grim. It's actually fairly pretty in places.
As this is in patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version of the track (live on the site next week) as well as music-only and ambience-only versions. Additionally, I've created two 'No Whispers' versions that eliminate most of the spirit voices. Some musical whisper-type elements remain. I hope you find these useful additions.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
