New Ambience: Den of Iniquity (Patreon)

Greetings Patrons,

I should start by assuring everyone that this particular house of ill repute is quite tame on the baudiness scale. That being said, if your characters need a tavern that is a little seedier, a little looser, this might be the place for you. (There's a small bench outside for Paladins.)

Musically this was an interesting challenge. It had to be slightly lurid, with a hint of bacchanalia, possibly a bit non-western sounding. I hit on the idea of a harmonium drone being the foundational timbre. From there, steady percussion (much of it being played live in the studio), and intertwining lyres. There's a very subtle but constant tempo increase in 2 sections where the entire track is gradually sped up and slowed down over time. I found it added a bit of otherness to the track. It's vaguely middle-eastern sounding, but I hope just enough to make it seem slightly exotic.

The ambience is a tavern full of people enjoying themselves. It can certainly be used as a standard fantasy/medieval style tavern. Again, none of the seediness is overt.

As this is in Patreon-ony sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version, as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions here for Patrons. Additionally, I created 2 'quieter' versions that remove some of the background walla (sfx speak for unintelligible voices) and footsteps. The effect is subtle but I thought it was a good option to have.
