In the past couple of months I've had several requests for Arabian styled musical/ambient tracks. Enough in fact that I actually googled: "new Arabian themed RPG" to see if I'd been missing something.  Alas, nothing came up. But, it seemed like an interesting challenge. So, rather than studying up on maquams and microtonal scales I figured I'd just jump in and go for something that sounded like it could be used in this type of game.

I'm always hesitant to jump feet first into any form of cultural appropriation, musical or otherwise without a disclaimer, so I do not present this as anything but a hollywood-ized homage to Arabian-styled music. Hence the name: Arabesque.

As with all my music tracks, the 'everything-is-10-minutes' rule presents a unique challenge in that..10 minutes is soo much music. (Most musical cues are 30-90 seconds). However, this is really meant as narrative and action support, so not something you'll be super focused on.

I had a head-desk moment when my sampled solo violin lines weren't sounding right and remembered I can actually play the real thing, so I rosined up the bow and recorded myself.

Thanks as always for your continued support.

best,

Tim

"[...] and recorded myself. " \o/ Is this the first track where we actually listen to something you've done ? Good job on the track, maybe a little too western (but as you said , its hollywoodized), but the track do the trick : we think of hot desert, riders in the sand, a whole nomadic tribe standing around a pit fire at night...

I've done little bits on others. There's a small solo violin section on 'Super Hero', around 7:50. Sometimes I'll just add a few live violin or viola tracks to a sampled string track to give it a little more realism so you (hopefully) wouldn't notice it. But living in a city makes recording acoustic instruments challenging. I can't count the number of fire engines that have ruined takes!
