Greetings Patrons,

I stumbled into the idea for this ambience based on a request for a mountain-top shrine. I began with a web search for fantasy gods and started scrolling through a very long list. I eventually settled on Talos, the god of storms and destruction.

Having played Skyrim years (and years) ago, I vaguely remembered a Talos from that world, but the D&D Talos is quite different. Suffice to say, this is an ambience about power that maybe you shouldn't be messing with, and stormy weather.

I've attached 3 versions of this track here for Patrons. It was going to be just 2, but as I listened back to the ambience-only version (spoiler: there's an occasional temple bell) I just knew that someone would ask for an ambience-only without it. To be fair, even though I like it as is, without the bell it gains slightly more utility as a generic stormy mountain top.

Musically, this is about power, darkness, and a bit of chaos.  Very much like Talos himself.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

I'm running the Storm Lord's Wrath campaign right now, so this is great timing!

I appreciate these tracks, but the 2 ambience-only tracks have a bad cracking issue with every thunderclap. It's so bad they're basically unusable. I first thought it might be my headset, but I get it on my home stereo as well. Anybody else having this issue?

Rob, that's odd - we're talking a harsh digital crackling? Is it evident in the mixed track on the site? There's some leaf/wind/ground crackling by design. Also the wind and thunder are processed to sound a bit otherworldly, but I don't hear anything harsh like you describe. Is it possible that the download was corrupted? Could you try re-downloading?

Glad you got to the bottom of it! (Even more glad that it wasn’t some bonehead mistake on my part!) -Tim

I just signed up. Is this going onto the site?

tabletopaudio

Yes, it's there. Page refreshes should update the content, or sometimes a cache clear will do it. There have been some instances of my CDN not refreshing for everyone but it usually fixes itself. The site is updated at the same time as new posts here. - Tim
