Greetings patrons,

I was reading about the famous London slums of the Victorian age last week. Charles Dickens would famously walk them at night in his desire to learn about 'the other London'. He described them in his novel Oliver Twist:

"Crazy wooden galleries ... with holes from which to look upon the slime beneath; windows, broken and patched ... rooms so small, so filthy, so confined, that the air would seem too tainted even for the dirt and squalor which they shelter ... dirt-besmeared walls and decaying foundations."

I chose this setting primarily because, like Dickens, I think it's such a potent backdrop for story. This is the other side of town. This is the prowling ground of Jack the Ripper, and of Sherlock Holmes. It's got cutpurses and thieves, gangs and underworld bosses. It's also got decent folk caught in the middle.

This track is firmly rooted in the historical, but there's no reason this couldn't be a Lovecraftian background, or even a pure fantasy one. If there is a nice part of town in a city, there's the opposite as well.

I've attached 2 alternate variations here, for patrons. The music-only version is a nice, moody, acoustic piece that should be fairly useful for somber underscore. The ambience-only version is just the sounds of the city. I hope you enjoy these.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

'Nice' obviously isn't the right word for Victorian slums, so I'll have to go with 'good work'. Would work nicely for night-time in pretty much any city with a dark side.

Mate this is great. I spoke to you via email that I run Call of Cthulhu and this music is useful in many scenes. It's very melancholy and a touch foreboding. Nice
