Greetings Patrons,

I'd like to introduce the latest member of our growing SoundPad family, Age of Sail.

I've been wanting to do a nautical themed SoundPad for awhile now. Age of Sail is a collection of 28 utility sounds (plus 3 musical tracks) that can be combined to simulate a large number of shipboard activities and situations.

You can layer different wind sounds and bow wakes to simulate varying speeds and weather conditions. Roll out cannons, fire broadsides and inflict damage (or have it inflicted on you!).  Put in for repairs, snooze below decks, hoist sails, shout orders, pump out sea water, board the enemy ship, play cat and mouse in a fog bank. You get the picture, or... sound, as it were.

I've tried to make this all about the boat and the environment so it should work equally well for naval combat on the high seas or pirate themed action. Let me know how you use it!

Thank you, as always for your continued patronage.

best,

Tim

Fantastic stuff!

Excellent, once again :D This was one of the things I was wishing for! I have issues with mobile and tablet though - I tried Chrome on my Android phone and Safari on iPad (which has worked previously better than Chrome) and they both crashed before loading everything. I wonder if there's a browser that handles this better (and perhaps can cache the files better?)

I agree it's got an issue on mobile, I'll look into this. It may be due to the increased number of longer background sounds. I think I may have inadvertently discovered the caching limit for mobile chrome!

Hey all, I'm looking into the problem of crashing on certain devices I should have a fix up in the next day or so! Sorry about that! - Tim

New version has been uploaded, make sure to clear your cache. I removed a few of the sounds and made others smaller. I was really pushing the limits with this one. Updated version should be more in line with the other SoundPads in terms of memory requirements. - Tim

Works well now in mobile, thanks again Tim! It sad to have to touch quality but I guess changes weren't too tough. Btw uc browser was able to handle the original pad but it doesn't respect volume controls. It also has a plugin to save full HTML page but it unfortunately wasn't able to handle the soundpad audio.

After listening some more and setting up various soundscenes, I need to say this really must be my favorite! :D I really need to start a pirate campaign now! One sound comes to mind I missed a bit when creating a storm -scene - sound of the ship plunging down from atop of a big wave/big wave hitting the ship. I guess there's no chance to include such, especially as the pad is already about to break mobile browsers (unless incorporating it to another sound like strong wind)?
