Greetings Patrons,

While working on the last 2 wuxia-based ambiences (Wuxia Tea House and Wuxia Village), I created so many individual sounds that I thought I would try and combine them into some kind of cohesive set to be used in a SoundPad. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure it would work.

At first I found the fighting element a bit tricky. I eventually settled on the idea of separating the body into 3 zones. The head - for vocalizations, the middle - for hands/feet, and the ground - for foot scuffles. Once I had this a-ha moment, I realized that I had already come up with this solution for the Combat SoundPad. Facepalm indeed.

The rest of the sounds describe some fairly typical environments. Often it's the  subtleties that separate these sounds from, say, more traditional settings. Be sure to use the frequency timer option to add in these details. For example, using the Gentle Breeze and Birdsong as a base, add Pour Tea every 30 seconds, Bamboo Chimes every 15 seconds and Broom: Sweep every 60 seconds. These little extra tidbits really help to place and sell a scene, and can differentiate it from other environments you create.

The Wuxia SoundPad is 36 sounds including 3 tones and 3 musical tracks. I've included the 3 looping musical tracks here as downloads for patrons in case you want to use them in other places.

I haven't added these to the Custom SoundPad yet but I'll be doing that in the next week when I return (see below). I think many of these sounds are going to be very useful when combined with sounds from other sets.

Quick Note: I'm taking off tomorrow for a long weekend with my family. Our first venture out of the city since this business began. I mention this because cell service is going to be pretty spotty so I may not be able to respond to things as quickly as usual.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Odd thing this time Tim: The repeat logic on the drum tone is odd: it seems to loop even if you don't ask for looping. Anyway, I love it and am playing it all day at my desk.

Hmm. That’s odd, I don’t think that happened to me. I’ll have to check that when I get back on Sunday.

Of course you're right Tim, it works exactly as you say. I didn't get the pattern, Thanks for checking it, and thanks for another great soundpad!!
