New Ambience: Carriage Journey (Patreon)
Content
It's so tempting in our games and stories to focus on set pieces; the action sequences, the iconic locations. While these are important, we sometimes forget that the transitional periods are equally valuable. How did the characters arrive? What happened during that time?
Writers like Jane Austen loved these moments. Entire chapters where the characters sat around a dinner table or in a drawing room, revealed hidden motives, subplots and backstory. In-between moments are to be reveled in, not glossed over. One could even argue that, in Austen stories, this was the action.
Carriage Journey is just this. It's a time for conversation, or silent contemplation. It's for viewing the world through rain streaked windows while countryside blurs into towns. I played an improvised plaintive violin melody over the top because I thought it felt right. Patreon patrons will have access to a version of this track without the music as well (in a separate post).
