Greetings Patrons,

I was out on the town last night and not checking my phone, but, I discovered in the cab ride on the way home that Tabletop Audio had won a gold medal for 'Best Website' at the 2017 ENnie awards at GenCon. Since the only way for this to happen was for lots of you to take time out of your day and vote for me, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. No, there's no prize money or really anything other than a certificate and the above medal (Hopefully they'll mail it to me!) but it's nice to get the occasional pat on the back.

In other news, I received a message from Google advising me that since I had forms on my website, you know, those nifty new text filters? - Well, now they were going to display an 'unsafe warning' or something because I wasn't using SSL certificates and serving pages over https. If this is gobbeldygook to you, it basically means that they're serious about making the web more secure and safe and even though I don't collect data of any kind, it's still not a bad idea to lock stuff down and safeguard against, well, bad things. So...I heaved ho and set about getting a certificate and making things all secure and then, fixing all the broken things that happened because I didn't know what I was doing.

Long story short, a week later, the site is secure and served over https:// and now you won't get any scary warnings when visiting. As everyone knows, the scary parts of my site are in the 'Horror' section, and that's where they're going to stay :)

Finally, I'm finishing up a few projects this week and then picking my kids up at music camp and driving down to North Carolina for a week at the beach with my family. I can't believe summer is over already, but I'm looking forward to a productive fall!

Thank you all for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Congratulations! It's well deserved. You bring a wonderful backdrop to thousands of game tables as they each write their own amazing tales. Your site has been the bedrock of some of our most awesome sessions. Happy to support you. *intercontinental fistbump from Australia* 😃👊

Yes, congratulations & well deserved!

Congratulations, you absolutely deserve this award! I'm hoping my own app will be in the running for this one next year :-)

Your medal and nomination certificate will be mailed to you (probably next week) --- Your friendly neighborhood ENnies Submissions Coordinator (and patron, 'cause I use the shit out of this website during my biweekly games)

Congrats, I repeat others that it is well deserved! Sorry to be again the one to point out an issue :D I believe changing to SSL invalidated cookies, nothing saved earlier (on OSX Chrome) is left. I don't know if non-https cookies can be allowed to be used by https site, but could you allow both http and https use for some time to allow copying any saved custom soundpad, settings etc (if they are still left)? Thanks, and keep up the excellent work! I'm currently running a Caribbean Pirates game, the Age of Sail soundpad is phenomenous! I turn volume high, most of the sounds very low and Broadsides & Damage sounds to Max for superior atmosphere!

I didn't foresee this happening and I apologize! It was a choice that Google basically made for me. Switch to SSL or we mark your site as unsafe. I don't think new visitors would have stuck around after the 'unsafe' warning screen! FWIW, I don't use cookies, custom soundpads and playlists are stored as short text strings int he browsers' localstorage. Hopefully rebuilding your saved pads won't be too much trouble! - Tim

Thanks for the info Tim – I googled a bit and found a way to recover the settings! So anyone else on OSX/Chrome (and these instructions may help others to right direction too), go to %home%/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/[Default or Profile X]/Local Storage , find files for http_tabletopaudio_com and change the beginning to https_ . Restart the browser if needed (not sure if it's needed, I restarted just to be sure) and it works!
