New Ambience: Collegium Magica (Patreon)

Greetings Patrons,

Here is a fairly quiet, meditative track featuring a large reverberant space, populated by mages and other students of the magical arts, deep in research.

The ambience was the first thing I began with. I combined recordings of library reading rooms, room tones of empty halls, braziers for heat, and walla (sound design speak for undiscernible background speech). I also played in some crystal wind chimes by building a sampler instrument and recording it over the background.

Musically this relies heavily on drones built from orchestral instruments and processed. Layered on top of that, there is sparse deep percussion, odd choral dissonances, a harp, and some live-tracked violin and ney flute.

As this track is currently in sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version, as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here, for patrons. Additionally, I created 2 'Empty' versions which cut down a lot of the human element leaving more of the space. It's subtle, but I liked the effect, especially in the ambience-only version. I hope you find these useful additions.
