Greetings Patrons,

Like many of you, I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3. The problem I have with video games (aside from being quite bad at most of them) is that a) I don't have much time to play and b) I only play an hour, max, before either 1) the guilt sets in, or 2) something in the game inspires me to work on sound or music.

This track is my take on the first scene in which the player has to escape from a crashing Nautiloid (interdimensional mind flayer ship. The ship itself is a living entity, complete with sinewy structures, moist, glistening walls, and electro-organic control consoles.

In this scenario, the mind flayers (illithids) are dead or dying as the heroes are trying to navigate the unfamiliar maze of chambers and corridors. Consoles are fritzing out and many of the walls seem to be... bleeding? That can't be right.

The music is chase/action/suspense but has some ebb and flow in it as well. It is primarily orchestral but there are a few synths and treated orchestral instruments to help give it an otherworldly flair. The music-only track would make a good cross-genre action/escape piece.

The ambience is a mix of tech and organic.  Metallic clangs and wet gurgles combine with sparks and general electrical malfunction. The mind flayers, whose bodies litter the ship are either dead, wailing in pain, or desperately trying to get inside your brain. Fun!

As this track is in Patreon-exclusive sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version (live on the site next week) as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here. Additionally, I created 2 'No Mind Flayer' versions which remove the screams and vocalizations and just leave the ship. I hope you find these useful.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

This is fantastic! I'm running an adventure called "Call from the Deep" and I'm sure I'll use it. Keep up the good work.

This is SUCH a badass track. I’m immediately adding this (music only) to my list of “intense danger/battle” options!
