Finale – The Priestess’s Execution II

After the beautiful horned lady’s speech, the place grew even quieter until the silence is deafening.


But looking up, clouds and airships were still drifting across the blue sky, so it did not seem as if time had stood still.


It was then. The single caw of a passing crow echoed across the square.


That resumed the ‘time’ back to what it was.


“‘T-the Demon Lord. The Demon Lord has attacked!”


“It’s over! We’ll all be killed!”


“No, she’s going to eat us!”


“Just run, run!”


The people panic as if a dam has burst. They have finally realized that their lives are now in danger.


And that danger has increased tenfold.


Not because of the sudden presence of the demon lord.


It was more because, although the square was large, there were more people than usual, and this created a chaotic stampede of people pushing each other around.


This led to people falling like dominoes, only to be stepped on or toppled by other people, also known as the domino effect.


“Ei!”


However, when the sexy lady who had just called herself the demon lord pointed her finger at the crowd again, dozens more fell to the ground, drawing everyone’s attention back to the bizarre scene.


“Guuh… c-coming….!!”


And also,


“Uuu. Th-this is…”


Everyone fell down but with ecstatic expressions on their faces.


So, upon seeing this, even though the rest of the people didn’t know what was going on, they seemed to have a rough idea.


As a matter of fact, here were already some who were laughing softly and looking at each other with subtle expressions on their faces, afraid to say it out loud.


Meanwhile, the hero next to me was “criticizing” the situation, saying things like “Grrr, what a tremendous magic power”, which, to be honest, made him look more like an idiot.

That she risked her life to rescue ten of the Andersen citizens we had kidnapped for food. And I have come to return them as per her request.”


The square falls silent.


“Who here has the right to blame the priestess? I remember once instructing my secretary: ‘The Andersen citizens are all cowards who don’t even get angry when their brethren are kidnapped, so let’s use them as food for our people one by one. However, there is one of you who isn’t like that, a fool who would even sacrifice her own to save a few. At that time, I thought to myself that they shouldn’t be underestimated, and that I shouldn’t mess with Andersen’s people anymore.”


The demon lord gently stroked the magnificent horns growing on the head of her beautiful face before continuing.


“I think you misunderstand something. Everything you have now is not a given right. There are no rights that come naturally to you because you were born human. The only reason it seems granted to you is because someone else is doing what needs to be done, all to spoonfeed it into your bloodsucking mouths.”


Having said this, the demon lord flipped her cloak and jumped.


She flew high into the air, twirling slightly, and then landed with pinpoint accuracy next to the girl’s cross.


It was a beautiful leap, with magnificent physical and balance coordination, like a brilliant, breathtaking gymnastic move.


“Priestess, what a shallow figure you are. With your magical power, there is no reason for you to remain a prisoner of these people. Why don’t you just kill them?”


“You… have to go.”


The girl’s voice is weak and thin.


Hearing this voice, the demon lord’s beautiful, evil eyebrows seemed to drop for a moment.


“Huh, ha ha ha! Of course, you are going to say that. I know it. I already know. That I shouldn’t involve them in this. After all, they are the people you have toiled and served with all your heart and soul. But you know what? They – those spoiled brats – even though they are half aware of it, they think they can get away with it because you don’t fight back. They make a big fuss over one mistake, one thing, or all of the things, then they abuse you, they lay waste to you, and after that, they think they have defeated the strong. How undeserved! You are not without despair, but your pride does not allow you to escape your predicament. The earth shook, and the air trembled.


As befits her title, the demon lord’s power is immensely mighty. So strong, in fact, that her rage alone was able to form a huge, jet-black sphere from the tip of her right forefinger.


The place became a mixture of screams and pleas for life, and some even fainted.


But then.


“Silence!”


Before they knew it, the hero had closed the gap with the demon lord, and with his imposing sword, he sent the demon lord’s magic leaping into the azure sky.
