Chapter 1 – Welcoming An Elf Girl Home 1

In my original world, elves were considered the most beautiful race on earth.

They had slender limbs and skin so white it looked like it had been carved from marble, hair like silvery threads, and eyes that shone like a lake, though there were various individual differences.

And now such an elf, or to be more precise, Miss Iris of the Rosenkreuzers, is in my house.

“Ahh…. So this is the room of a gentleman who lives alone….”

And even though she was alone with a man and in his own house, she did not show any signs of being cautious.

On the contrary, she looked very excited, as if anticipating it, and looked around the room with a curious expression on her face.

“Ahh, I never thought the day would come when I could visit a man’s room! Sniff, aaahhh… even the smell here is so good…!”

I wonder if it was really… okay to invite her to my place.

To her earlier offer – I ended up agreeing in the end.

Or rather, I had no choice but to agree? Because Miss Iris seemed to have no intention of backing down.

For my part, I couldn’t allow a woman to treat me like a swindler in the vicinity of my office. What would my colleagues say if they saw this?

I know that in this world, men get preferential treatment because of their small numbers.

But that’s why I feel that it would be terrible if my co-workers saw me, because they would definitely say, “You must have been flirting with those ugly women for money,” and harass me endlessly.

…well, besides that, I think this is a blessing for me as well.

Because, you know, it’s an elf. An elf in the flesh!

If it had been me in the original world, even if I had cried and got down on my knees and begged, I would never have had a chance to mingle with such a race. That’s how exalted and revered they are in that world.

And now, such a member of that exalted race is jumping at me from the other side of the world!

Despite all the reasons why I shouldn’t, I just couldn’t bear to refuse her.

“Um, would you like a cup of tea?

“Ah, t-thank you…”

I live in a one-story house in a residential area about 20 minutes walk from the Adventurers’ Guild.

The guild subsidizes this place for single employees, which is easy to notice as the street is lined with one-story houses of the same construction.

But this one is a little bigger than the one I had in my original world, probably because of the preferential treatment I got for being one of the few men in the guild.

Iris is sitting on the mattress in the room I use as my bedroom, looking around with a curious expression on her face.

I asked her if I should offer her a cup of tea first, as she seemed restless, but I suddenly realized something as I went into the kitchen.

I have no extra cups for guests.

Has this other “me” never invited people to his home? I thought as I searched, but no matter how hard I tried, there were only dishes and utensils for one person – me.

Hmmm, what should I do?

“Miss Iris, I only have one cup here, the one I usually use. Is that okay with you?”

“ T-the cup you usually use!?”

I looked towards the bedroom as I said this, and Iris, for some reason, opened her jade-colored eyes and screamed.

I hadn’t expected her to have such a reaction to a cup, though.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know you would hate it so much.”

“N-no, no, no, I didn’t mean it like that! I never said I didn’t like it! Please don’t take it back! What do you need? If you need money, I’ll gladly pay you!”

“No, I don’t need money right now…”

Is she really okay? Well, at least she’s not disgusted by the idea of drinking from my cup right now.

I don’t know if that’s a good thing.

“Here you go.”

“Oh, thank you.”

I hand a cup of tea to Iris, who holds out her hand anxiously.

Speaking of money, I guess all the S-rank parties have plenty of it.

I mean, Carla offered me money at first.

She also paid for the inn back then.

I tried to pay at first, but she refused, saying, “As if I could let a man pay for these things!”

I can still remember the horrified look on her face when she said that.

Then again, maybe the concept of “ladies first” is reversed in this world, where the ratio of men to women is skewed from the start. I mean, in my original world, there is no way you can force a woman to pay for your food and stuff, and if you tried that out in the open, you might even get ganged up on and, worse, beaten to death…

“Ahh, I-indirect kiss… I did an indirect kiss…”

While I was thinking about it, Iris was mumbling these words as if she was in some kind of delirium.

“I am planning to do something much more amazing than an indirect kiss, though.”

“Bufuh!!”

“Whoaah!”

Hearing me say that, Iris suddenly spit out the tea she was drinking, splashing through her clothes.

I hurriedly tried to wipe it up with a piece of cloth, but it was too late, as the liquid had already seeped in.

“S-sorry!”

“Oof, this is worse than I thought…”

I mean, that is quite a stain you have there, Miss. I’m sure I can make it come off if I wash it while treating the stain with some ikoi berries, but since Miss Iris is still wearing her clothes, it’s impossible to clean them.

But isn’t this good?

After all, this is why we came to my house. To do “that” in the first place.

“I’m going to wash the stain off your clothes, so take them off.”

“Huh?”

“You’re going to take them off anyway, so why don’t you do it now? At least it will be easy when the stain is still fresh.”

“O-okay.”

Iris nodded her head at my words, her white face turning slightly vermillion.

And then – with a shuffling sound of fabric – she took off the clothes she was wearing.

“Oooh…!”

Whereas, on the next scene, I saw myself letting out words of admiration off my mouth.
