Chapter 23 – The Castle Where a Flock of Butterflies Fly About

Despite being a residence of the lord of the territory, the Butterfly Quilt Castle is located far away from its main roads or tracks.

To sum up, it was a cross-country house, except that it was as big as a castle.

Often built in the middle of a remote mountainous area, cross-country houses are usually located far away from the hustle and bustle of the suburbs as if its owner wants to enjoy the silence of nature.

For these reasons, most of them are built as a pastime villa for high-class aristocrats who are bored with their money and the city life.

But the Butterfly Quilt Castle is unique among cross-country houses. It is because not only it served as a vacation house for the Count, it could also serve as a fort with its defensive properties.

Or at least, that was what the majority thought.

Butterfly Quilt Castle is not a castle. It only looked like a castle because its owner wanted it to look cooler from the outside perspective.

Thus, it lacked practicality and defensive capabilities compared to an actual castle, as it was built with beauty and aesthetics as its primary emphasis.

As has been said before, cross-country houses are synonymous with pastime villas of great noblemen. Despite this, the Count treated this secluded villa as their own main residence and has never left its premises with the exception of several grave situations such as monster and bandit invasions.

If it were a normal lord, they would at least go to the capital once a year to visit the royal family, but the Count of the West Adele wasn’t doing any of this. Instead, they enjoy themselves in the nature and climate of their domain.

Even with this, the Count still performed their duties as a lord. In fact, they did so well that instead of having their popularity drop due to lack of personal presence, such personage has even raised their fame to the masses because their governance is several times better than ordinary lords.

One of the proofs of this was the Count’s well-trained vigilante corps being the strongest in the surrounding territories. They are said to be second to none, even when compared to the Royal Court Knights of the capital.

Count Mariastel has always led these elite troops out of her castle to exterminate ferocious monsters and bandits found in their territory. And whenever they did so, the Count’s popularity at such times would rise up exponentially, almost rivaling that of the god of hunting depicted in picture stories and ballads.

It is said that if an ugly person were to look at the personage, his retinas would be burned out by the glow.

That the Count was a mythical being shrouded in mystery.

That is Count Mariastel, Lord of West Adele.

“……Or so that person wants you to think.”

Schild and the others finally arrived at the destination of their journey, the Butterfly Quilt Castle.

A tranquil, rural landscape was spread in front of them.

Cows and horses roam freely in a fenced pasture, eating grass. On the other side of the road, there are fields of vegetables growing in abundance.

“This area is a farm area. The Count grows their food here, making them completely self-sufficient.”

“This one’s employer is a person who never leaves their house, after all. As such, the size and quality of this farm are incomparable to those of any other house. However……”

Schild and the others had noticed.

The cowherd and the peasants working on the farm all have something in common.

They were all women, and they were quite young and beautiful.

“I’ve heard that the Count likes women and hates men, but……”

“……to think it would be to this extent.”

As it was the first time Carney and Kelechi visited this place, they could not hide their nervousness.

Kelechi, in particular, was almost overwhelmed by her own sense of being out of place since she is just a novice peddler who has come to make a sales pitch.

“I-i-is it really alright for me to follow you here? Indeed, I requested to be guided all the way to the Count’s residence, but I didn’t think I would be able to reach this far!”

“Isn’t that good for you, Kelechi? You will be meeting the Count face to face soon, so all you need is to make sure your sales pitch is ready, and you’re good to go!” Schild said as he gently patted Kelechi’s bottom.

However, he felt it wasn’t fair to do Kelechi’s alone, so he also stroked Lagothe’s, Sae’s, and Carney’s asses next.

“Hey, Schild, don’t pat my ass. It makes me want to have sex with you.”

“Forgive this one, Master, but as expected, this is not a good place. And please don’t try to test our reasons.”

However, next to them, Carney started pulling down her pants, to which everyone immediately stopped her in alarm, everyone except Schild.

“It’s just a joke, everyone. I knew all of you would stop me.”

“Is that really true!?”

“It’s been less than half a day since our meeting, but this one already has a feeling you’re really going to do it!”

Carney has already been recognized as a more erotic demon than Schild.

“But you know what?”

Carney suddenly interjected with a question.

“I understand that Count Mariastel is a great lover of women and hates men. But if that’s the case, then are you guys forgetting the strangest part here?”

“What is it?”

“Lord Schild.”

Carney’s delicate-looking fingers then pointed at the sole man in the group.

“You’re a man, aren’t you, Lord Schild?”

“What kind of question is that? Your cunt knows that better than anything else, doesn’t it?”

“Well, yes. If you put it that way.”

The Count hated men so much that they tried to unify even the peasants on their property with only women.

The fact that such a person is acquainted with Schild, who is in a sense a man among men, obviously didn’t add up to Carney’s brain.

What’s even more surprising is, this very Count even wrote a letter of introduction for Schild to enter the royal capital. If the Count is kind on this level to help Schild, it is safe to say that they have taken a liking to Schild.

“It is kind of impossible, no matter what angle you look at it. But it all happened. Does that mean that Lord Schild’s qualities are so great that it transcended the Count’s dislike for men?”

“Well, for now, that’s a matter that you’ll have to confirm to the person face-to-face for you to find it out.”

After crossing the farmyards, they finally reached the huge structure at the center – the Butterfly Quilt Castle.
