Chapter 6 – To the Other World Again

The following day, Alana found out that her limbs felt much better.

She tried moving around the shower just to make sure. But even when she put on the tracksuit offered to her, she didn’t find any problems with her body.

The tracksuit she was wearing right now is the one Yoichi lent to her. It was of a gray color with pink parallel lines running along its length.

And because the size is tailored for Yoichi, it was too big for Alana’s body. Still, the area on her breasts and buttocks were particularly tight on her, even for its size.

Also, because she only was wearing a thin innerwear that was repaired with [Infinite Storage+], the shape of her nipples were standing out from beyond the clothing.

For their breakfast, Yoichi took out packed lunches from his [Infinite Storage+]. It was one of the many bento shop pack lunches he had bought and prepared beforehand for his journey.

As for the flavor, he chose the fried chicken package because he deduced that it was the safest choice for Alana. He also prepared a fork for the princess knight who didn’t know yet how chopsticks work.

Yoichi imagined that being an adventurer, she would be a bit rough above the table, but Alana’s manner of eating was more refined than he expected.

This elegant behavior suddenly reminded him of Misato, but remembering how the woman left him without notice, Yoichi lightly shook his head and drove her out of his mind.

“Mmm, this fried chicken is well seasoned and delicious.”

“Is that so? I’m glad you like it.”

“And this cooked white rice is not bad too! Not only I can eat it without any seasonings, but it also matches greatly with the fried chicken! And this soup called miso also tastes wonderful!”

The miso soup Yoichi served was those of instant mixes he bought for their ease of use.

Looking at the other party’s dining etiquette similar to that of the West, he also prepared a separate soup spoon for the miso soup just in case.

Alana’s manners were basically elegant, but he also noticed that she showed a bold side from time to time, like chewing on a rather large chunk of the fried chicken in just one bite.

“Come to think of it, Mister Yoichi, how are you eating with those two sticks with such dexterity?”

“That’s part of the culture of our country. And it’s called chopsticks.”

“Really? I hope you teach me how to use those chopsticks sometime.”

“No problem.”

After he said that, Yoichi made a note in his mind that he should buy some beginner chopsticks for children sometime in the future.

After finishing their meals and preparing their respective gears, the two finished their preparations for departure.

“Mister Yoichi, is that what you intend to wear under your robe?”

But the princess knight wearing silver and white armor, seeing Yoichi’s attire up close, showed a complicated expression for the first time.

“Is it……strange?”

“Not only it’s strange, but that would also make you stand out in town.”

“Then, how about this?”

With that, Yoichi stowed away his protectors and helmet for the moment and changed into his work clothes.

“Hmm, I think that’s better.”

“I see. In that case, I’ll just take off my gear before entering the town.”

“Well, that can be done as well.”

After deciding on that, Yoichi took out the equipment he had taken off from the [Infinite Storage+] and equipped it again.

“Shall we go?”

“Okay.”

After that, he wrapped his arms around Alana’s waist, and while hugging her, he then activated his [Return+].

The next moment, they arrived at the place in the forest where Yoichi and Alana first met. The latter immediately scampered around after arriving, looking around the scenery many times.

For a moment, Yoichi thought she might have been confused by the sudden change in scenery. But when he had taken a good look at her face, he found out that it didn’t seem to be that way.

“Mister Yoichi?”

“Hm?”

“Last time, I asked you if you felt something different when transferring from there to there, right? I think I know now what that strange feeling is.”

“And, what is it?”

“There is no presence of mana in Mister Yoichi’s room.”

“Yes, I already told you that.”

“If I had been in perfect physical condition, I would have noticed it right away. But now that I’m standing here again……. “

“……I was able to feel it. The presence of mana filling up the world, or something like that.”

“I know it’s strange, but that’s exactly what I’m feeling. It’s something that I never noticed because, for us, these things have existed for granted since we were born. But when I was suddenly transferred to a place where mana doesn’t exist and got transferred back, I could feel its prescience now, even if I don’t want it to. Don’t you feel any difference, Mister Yoichi?”

“Unfortunately, I do not.”

“Hmmm. I wonder why.”

Having started this topic once again, Yoichi remembered what the administrator had told him last night.

“Well, it’s no use explaining what you don’t know.”

But he also knew it wouldn’t do much good to tell this to Alana, so he just shook his head lightly and said so.

“Well, anyway. I think I got a better idea now of what you were saying when you told me that “that place” is another world.”

“So we’re still not clear on that part, huh…….”

“Fufufu. It can’t be helped, can it? I’m sure I’ll understand in time.”

Less than ten minutes after walking in the forest, the two started to encounter monsters.

There were five visible Forest Hounds in front of them, and [Appraisal+] revealed that four more were hiding in the shade of trees and bushes as if lying wait for an ambush.

“This is a perfect warm-up, Mister Yoichi. So please stand back, for I’ll show you the power I can do!”

As she said this, two axes appeared in the hands of the armored princess knight.

But their shape was a bit peculiar, as they were more like an ax, a pick and spear fused as one than a standard fire ax.

The large ax had a curved blade on one side, a protruding pick on the other, and at the end of the handle protruding below the ax head there was some kind of sharp point like a spear.

The length from the ax head to the other tip is about 50 cm.

It was a brutish weapon that did not match Alana’s figure, who possessed a slender body and elegantly designed armor.

But from the way Alana was holding it, Yoichi couldn’t help but think, “Is she a berserker or something” like those RPGs he played before.

Rushing into the forest hound pack, Alana started swinging those odd-looking axes on both hands in all directions.

From his visual estimate, each of the two weapons weighed about five kilos each, and yet she swung them like sticks to knock down the incoming hounds.

She beheaded one with the bladed side, crushed the skull of the other with the pike bash, then pierced the next one on its throat with the tip of its spear-like handle.

In a matter of seconds, she already killed the five that were out in the open.

After that, she threw the ax in her right hand towards the bushes, and with a loud cry, another Forest Hound fell. Then, almost simultaneously, another one jumped right out of the greenery next to it, but it also ended up being beheaded, this time by the other ax in her left hand.

As if not waiting for her to pause, another Forest Hound jumped at Alana from behind. But before Yoichi realized, the ax that was thrown on her right had magically returned to that same hand, and using the spear part at the end of its handle, she thrust it towards the direction of the rushing monster that had its fangs opened wide.

Lodging the tip on that hound’s throat that had jumped at her and making sure that it was dead, Yoichi heard a wail from another bush. It seems that Alana has already thrown the other ax in her left hand without him knowing, and just a second after the cry, the ax was magically back again on her left hand.

Alana swung her two axe-cum-pike-cum-short spears as if dancing. And in less than a minute, she had annihilated a pack of nine forest hounds – all alone and using only her slender, thin arms with the oddly looking axes.

It was a gore-ish sight, but Yoichi was still fascinated by the princess knight’s maneuvers as she did this.

“Hmm. It seems like the Forest Hounds were not even enough of a workout.”

Shaking off the blood on her two battleaxes, Alana came back to Yoichi.

“Hmm? Is there something wrong, Mister Yoichi?”

“Ah, nothing. That was……brilliant.”

“Fufufu. Well, the enemy was just too weak.”

Alana said that with a smile. But even with the specks of the victim’s blood that had splattered all over her face and clothing, Yoichi’s thoughts were only one.

And that is she was really beautiful.

“In that case, shall we move on?”

“Y-yeah. Okay”

After that, the two axes disappeared from Alana’s hands.

Then she put her hands toward her chest and breathed lightly, and afterward, all the blood splatters on her body glowed like particles and simultaneously disappeared.

“Hey, what did you do to do that?”

“That what?”

“Uhm, the part where you make your ax appear and disappear. Is that the [Storage] skill?”

“Nope. This is a skill called [Spirit Binding].”

After that, Alana made the ax appear again.

From what Alana had told him, [Spirit Binding] is a skill that allows one to store equipment remotely into something like a “spirit world,” and it is done by fusing their weapons and armor into their “Spirit”.

After these weapons are “registered”, not only these weapons will gain a feature where you can pull them out wherever they went, they can also be auto-repaired just by storing them in this “spirit world” which is provided by your soul. This means that even if they break or shatter, they can still be returned to their original state once they are stored. However, it also comes with a risk, as it consumes magic power and life force in proportion to the damage sustained by the “registered item”.

In other words, depending on how damaged your equipment is, there is a possibility that the owner may run out of magic power or life force in trying to repair them. The worse case is, the person who’s [Spirit Bound] to the weapon may even die.

But it’s not like there isn’t a workaround for this. For example, if the equipment is so severely damaged to the point that it isn’t worth exchanging mana or life anymore, the owner can cut off their connection before it begins to repair.

However, there are also consequences for this. If the person deactivates the connection of the [Spirit Binding] for example, to save their life, they would never be able to use [Spirit Binding] again for the rest of their lives, because [Spirit Binding] has already “registered” that equipment permanently to the person’s soul.

But on the bright side, the owner will be able to use their equipment very conveniently, as this effect alone already prevents almost every possible ways of being disarmed. It is especially more effective if the owner is wielding throwable weapons.

Yes, just like Alana’s axes for example.

“I see. So you were using your [Spirit Binding] to make your equipment appear and disappear.”

“Yep. it’s a very handy skill once you get used to it.”

“Now that I notice it, you were swinging that ax around like it’s a twig or something. Is it that light? Can I hold it?”

“You want to try?”

But when Yoichi nodded and tried to take it with just one hand, Alana lightly shook her head and stopped him.

“No, not like that. You might not notice it, but this is a lot heavier than it looks. Fix your posture and take it firmly in both hands. Then I’ll let go, okay?”

After Alana’s correction, Yoichi firmly grasped the ax near its spear-like pommel and the ax head while also applying proper weight distribution to the two ends. But at the moment Alanna let go of his hand, Yoichi couldn’t help but be surprised as the weight of the whole ax was so heavy that it was felt by all of his body.

“Oof!”

From the size of the ax, Yoichi expected it to weigh at most three to five kilograms and no more than ten kilograms at the heaviest, but when he actually held it, it weighed almost thirty kilograms.

“And you’re waving this heavy thing around? And with one ax each hand even!?”

“Fufufu. You see, there is a secret to this.”

When the princess knight says so, she lifts the battleax with a flick.

“Eh……!?”

Seeing the appalled reaction of the other party, Alana couldn’t help but giggle a bit. Then, she began to explain about her weapon.

“This ax is made of gravitite, an ore with high specific gravity, and it was used as the core of its handle and ax head. The rest of the handle is adamantine, while the ax head is made up of mithril. As for its blade, the pick on the other end, and the spear-like tip on its handle, they are all coated with orichalcum to provide maximum sharpness.”

The Gravitite itself is heavy, and from that metal alone, the basic weight of the ax already adds up to about 30 kilograms (~66lb). But what’s more impressive is that the Gravitite can increase its weight further by channeling magic power into it, making its maximum weight be further increased to 100 kilograms (~220lb) or more depending on the magic capacity of the user.

“In other words, you are using this Gravitite to manipulate its weight in reverse, causing it to get lighter?”

“Nope. Gravitite can only increase in weight and not the other way round. As for that, a weight reduction enchantment is applied to it separately.”

It seems that weapons and armor can be bestowed with some kind of magical effect.

Commonly referred to as Enchantments in Yoichi’s RPG game world, when bestowed in a piece of equipment, it will provide the user some magical effects, and from there, the item will then be rightfully called as [magic equipment].

In Alana’s case, her two battleaxes each have an enchantment of reducing the weight to the user by a tenth.

As for its area of effect, it is only within the range of its user. This means that the target of the attack will receive its original weight or even more.

“But considering the tenth of its weight which is 30 to a hundred kilos, it’s still three to ten kilos, right? So how can you swing that thing with such thin arms?”

“As for that, I’m also good at using magic to strengthen my body.”

In other words, Alana is saying she was able to offset the weight further by boosting her body’s capabilities, specifically her actual muscle power, with just her own magic power.

“This thing, is this what you call a halberd?”

“Design-wise, yes, but it was originally a battleax. One day, I saw the halberd’s design, and I thought, “that might come in handy”, so I modified its shape a bit.”

Is it because it was [Soul Bound] that it is possible to change its shape to some extent? Yoichi couldn’t help but think.

But when he asked about this, what came to him was an answer that it can only change a part to a minimum. In other words, it is not possible to change an ax into a sword or a spear into a bow. Only changing the length and size of the blade and the length of the handle is possible, and that’s already going overboard with the skill to its utmost limits.

(It’s still impressive enough, though.)

To showcase this, Alana extended the end of the handle and made it into some sort of Swiss Halberd, then made the other tip longer to make it resemble a spear.

For some reason, Alana calls that part the “scion,” as if it were a tip of a sprouting plant.

“I see. So, what about the cleaned blood?”

“It’s a magic spell called [Cleaning]. In addition to removing bloodstains, it can also be used to remove grime from weapons or simply to wash a sweat-stained body. It is one of the magic techniques that is a must-have if you want to become an adventurer.”

“Wow, that’s really useful.”

But Yoichi thinks that he probably won’t be able to learn it, though.

“Well, I don’t really know how that works, but whatever it is, I now know that Alana is this strong. But I guess this will be my turn now, huh?”

“Agreed. I also want to see what Mister Yoichi is capable of.”

And so, they ended the quick chat, and the two started walking again.

After treading through the forest for a while, they encountered a big figure familiar to them.

“Wow, I didn’t expect to see a One-Eyed Bear in such a shallow part of the forest. Mister Yoichi, are you alright?”

“Yeah, I’m alright. I’ve killed those guys a few times before.”

The One-Eyed Bear was the first monster Yoichi couldn’t defeat after arriving here, but after a bit of practice, he was able to defeat them several times.

Yoichi took out his assault rifle from the [Infinite Storage+] and held it up.

Most monsters could be defeated with an ordinary pistol, but when it came to C-rank monsters such as the One-Eyed Bear, he would need a large caliber pistol or assault rifle as the former had too insufficient firepower to take it down.

Honestly, for Yoichi, he really doesn’t want to use the assault rifles right now as he doesn’t have an established supply for its ammunition at the moment. But for now, he decided to show off to Alana some of his skills. This is to at least stop her from repeatedly checking upon him like a kid from time to time.

Even though these monsters are more like animals who move more by instinct rather than reason, it doesn’t mean that they always move first without thinking, so Yoichi was still able to predict their moves to some extent.

Yoichi activated his [Appraisal+] and readied his aim.

This is because he can hit the target more accurately by reading this skill than using the iron sights.

And because he can’t waste ammunition, he aimed for the fatal organs right from the start.

First, he set his sights on the area between his opponent’s eyes.

Then he took into account the direction of the wind, the peculiarities of the gun, and even the condition of the next bullet to be fired. Thankfully, [Appraisal+] has already indicated everything, even at what angle would be best should you pull the trigger.

For this reason, Yoichi had the gall to hold the assault rifle at the hip even with limited ammunition.

One-Eyed Bear has yet to show any movement, apparently because it was wary of Alana’s presence.

Yoichi pulled the trigger.

With a BANG, the bullet from the assault rifle hit the monster right between the eyes. It was just as what the [Appraisal+] had predicted.

However, the blow did not penetrate the skull of the One-Eyed Bear, which was harder than steel sheet metal armor, and although the bullet shattered the skull with its impact, the bullet just bounced off.

The impact would probably kill the One-Eyed Bear with brain damage, but if it didn’t kill him instantly, it would give it the chance to fight for a while, which should be bad news, at least for Yoichi.

But that was already within his [Appraisal+]’s predictions. And as if to counter that, a second bullet had already been fired.

Because of the impact of the first bullet, the One-Eyed Bear currently had its head shifted upwards. This leaves its chin unprotected and exposed, to which it received Yoichi’s second bullet, which then successfully penetrated the bear’s head just from under its chin.

Entering at a perfect angle, the bullet tore through the soft skin and muscles of its chin. Then it went through its upper mouth and destroyed the central nervous system above it as well.

Just like that, Yoichi made the behemoth collapse without even putting up a fight.

“And that’s about it.”

“Wow, you have really shown me something amazing. Is that weapon enchanted with some kind of magical effect or something?” Alana spoke as she took a stern gaze at Yoichi’s gun with interest.

“Nope. It’s just an ordinary weapon. And it’s called a gun.”

“Gun, is it? I’ve never seen nor heard of that kind of weapon before.”

“It is an invention in my world where you ignite gunpowder in a small chamber to make metal balls fly, if I oversimplify its features. But all in all, everyone in my world can use it because of its simplicity, though I can’t say the same for its possession and manufacturing.”

“I see. but gunpowder, you say……is it some kind of flammable powder?”

“Yes. Wait. Do you mean there’s also gunpowder in this world?”

“I am not really sure if it’s the same thing, but I’ve read it in some old documents. Also, it is more efficient to use magic to burn or explode something here, so the idea……kind of died out in the end.”

“That’s still interesting.”

“But that doesn’t mean it cannot be reinvented. Once the people here know the mechanism for that “Gun” of yours and its perks of being easy to use, it won’t be hard to reproduce it here as they already know the concept. So, if you’re gonna use it, I would prefer to……you know…….”

“Yeah, I get what you mean. But don’t worry, as I would only use this for my own exclusive use. That’s it! Let’s just add the pretext of it being a [Spirit Bound] weapon. All I just need is to be careful not to let it fall into other people’s hands.”

“In that case, thank you. That would be a great help.”

Still, Yoichi couldn’t help but be shocked inside that this otherworld’s technology is already capable of replicating such a thing, moreover a product which is a result of years of improved science.

(If a person in this world is given this power, even if it’s an amateur, not only will the population of the One-Eyed Bear or other monster of the equivalent power die out, it would bring all sorts of chaos and destruction in this world as well.)

(In the first place, I am only adventuring in another world for my own enjoyment, not because I want to be a hero, man of valor, or some sort of Archimedes or something in this new world. So, yep, let’s keep this thing to myself and myself alone from now on.)

After that, the two continued their way throughout the forest, hunting monsters as they saw fit.

“Mister Yoichi, we’re moving at quite a pace. Are you not tired?”

“Me? I’m totally fine. How about you, Alana?”

“Surprisingly, I’m not tired at all, even though I’ll usually be around this time. If we keep up this pace, we should be able to reach the nearest town by tomorrow.”

Yoichi was aware of his own [Healthy Body+] effects, so he was actually more worried about her partner than himself. But seeing Alana still showing strong and healthy legs in all sorts of meanings even now, Yoichi couldn’t help but be impressed with the woman’s abilities instead.

(As expected of an adventurer…….)

Little did he know, the effect of the newly added [Healthy Body+] on Alana is already at work here, even though the person herself is also oblivious to this. Then again, for Alana, as she had always viewed herself as a strong woman, so this improved wellbeing she was feeling, she only interpreted it as she “was in pretty good shape today” and nothing else.

After that, they had their lunch in bento boxes.

Yoichi wanted to barbecue the meat of the monsters they had hunted, but because Alana wanted to hurry up for some reason, he decided to prepare a ready-made pack lunch instead.

“Mmmm~! This Chicken Nanban is pretty good, too!”

Yes, it was totally not because she wanted to taste Yoichi’s packed lunches again.

After that, they walked until the night started to come, in which Yoichi then brought out his tent and pitched it up in an open space between the trees.

“Oooh, that’s quite a novel invention you got there. It’s like a tent floating in midair.”

What Yoichi had prepared is a tree tent, the same model he used the other day. It was designed to be set up in between trees to make it rise above the ground, so not only does this eliminate the troubles of the uneven shape of the ground, it also prevents the other “unpleasant” small intruders crawling down below.

After that, they had a bento box for dinner once again then went to bed peacefully that night.

“We’re almost out of the forest.”

The next day, the two set off early in the morning, just when the sky was just starting to receive its first light.

And because they started early, they were able to reach near the end of the forest just around noon.

“But we are still in quite a distance to the town. So we might spend another night on the way at this pace.”

Yoichi’s [Appraisal+] has a map search and a navigation function that works even in this other world, so he was able to determine the approximate time of their arrival even though he hadn’t seen the town yet.

However, even if they keep their current pace, they would still take another 30 minutes to get out of the forest, and from there to the town of Meilgrad, it would be another 10-12 hours on foot.

“Not really. There’s a wagon waiting for us just outside the forest. If we take it, we would be back in town in about three hours.”

As for why there’s a wagon waiting just outside the forest, it was from the survey team led by Alana and her party, to which also includes the nobles and the guys in light armor which Yoichi had met on their first meeting, though the majority of them are already not breathing at this point. Until the survey team returns, these caravans are ordered to camp out and wait.

“I see. But what if the three people who escaped before us already used the wagon?”

“Ah……”

Apparently, Alana had already forgotten about the three men who had attacked her just the other day.

Normally, the experience of exposing the genitalia and being touched directly to apply an aphrodisiac would be the height of shame for any virgin woman and would even be an unforgettable source of trauma that one wouldn’t easily recover. But in Alana’s case, as she had made love with Yoichi afterward, this incident has become a trivial matter for her. After all, it was immediately replaced by a loveable scenery where it was almost akin to a fairy tale in her childhood dreams.

“Let’s see. If the wagon we arranged is no longer available, there are still those on the other survey teams a little further south of the forest. We can hitch a ride from one of the wagons there.”

As for why Yoichi asked of this, it’s because he used his [Appraisal+] just now to check the movements of the three men they had a conflict with. From there, he found out that they had apparently prepared another carriage and had already left the frontier for Count Colborne.

Since they had intended to kidnap the princess knight from the beginning, they would probably not return to Meilgrad for a while.

“Well, for now, the coast is clear. Let’s get out of the forest first.”

Alana led the way, and they started walking again.

(But now that I’m looking at it again …… they sure are incredible, those things.)

Alana’s upper body was wrapped by a silver breastplate. But because the chest part of her armor is wide open, the fascinating cleavage created by her ample twin mountains could be clearly viewed by Yoichi, even from behind.

And even while being secured by the breastplate, the two bountiful front tassels acted as if they were not constricted by anything, and Yoichi couldn’t help but stare at them as they grandly swayed each time the princess knight took a step.

For this, a question was suddenly formed in Yoichi’s mind.

“Hey, Alana. Isn’t that armor a little too revealing?”

He had already noticed this before, but Alana’s has just too few protected parts for something that serves as armor.

While her neck and shoulders are well covered, nothing on it covers her arms starting from the elbow to her hands, just flimsy and loose-fitting gloves. And the chest armor that protects her upper body is, as mentioned above, wide open at her chest area as if it was intendedly designed for all men to gawk onto.

This also goes for the tassets that protect her hips. While they cover the sides and more than half of her rear, the front part is wide open and without cover, and the metal boots that also serve as shin guards only go from her knees down, meaning her crotch and thighs are unprotected and exposed.

“Well, you see, please don’t be offended. I think it’s a really good design, and it fits on you well, but I’m not sure how it would function as armor.”

“Fufufu. That’s because this is an enchanted armor.”

Hearing Yoichi’s words, Alana stopped walking and turned around. Smiling a little smugly, she then pointed at her wide-open chest towards Yoichi’s front.

“Try tapping it lightly.”

“O-okay?”

Slightly confused by Alanna’s suggestion, Yoichi lightly tapped the area around her chest, which was not covered by anything.

“Ooh. Wait a minute.”

But the feeling that came back to his hand was not the soft one he had fumbled with so much that night. Instead, it was something like hitting a rigid board or wall.

He tried tapping it a few more times just to make sure, but there was only some kind of invisible wall around it, just before it touched her skin.

“Amazing, isn’t it? That’s because this has a built-in enchantment to it that gives effects similar to wrapping yourself in full plate mail.”

“Yeah, it really is amazing. So, I can’t touch Alana directly while wearing that armor, huh.”

“No, that’s not always the case. Try touching me again, but be a bit slower this time.”

“Okay.”

As she instructed, Yoichi slowly lowered his hands. And this time, Yoichi’s hand crossed the area where the invisible armor had prevented him from doing so earlier and successfully reached her soft chest.

“Nn……”

And the moment she was touched directly, Alana jerked slightly.

As for Yoichi, he immediately felt a certain moistness right after the contact, probably from the sweat that had accumulated inside her ever since they started their long journey on foot. It was then followed by a delayed transmission of the woman’s body heat.

But Yoichi didn’t care about all of those details but one.

“It……passed through?”

“Yes.”
