Chapter 25 – New Ally, and a Shocking Discovery

“………”

Schild pondered for a moment.

“So the real reason you had sex with me, is for that?”

“As expected of you, Mr. Schild. You’re so good at figuring things out.”

Next to them, Carney spoke “Eh?” What?” “What is happening” alternately, still clueless on where to follow their conversation.

In other words, she still doesn’t understand what’s happening.

Seeing the puzzled slow knight having troubles, Schild couldn’t help but explain.

“Cymbium wanted at least one ally to fight against his political enemies. One who is not bound by positions or noble responsibilities and can act in any way he likes. And I’m the one who’s been chosen as her best candidate.”

“That’s not all, actually. To tell you the truth, when father revealed your existence to me a year ago, he also told me this.”

[The only people who can stop the Oscars from growing are Cymbium and the boy who was the fruit of my uncontrollable passions.]

“That if, by any chance, a man carrying that sword of his were to appear in the Royal Capital, we must join hands to face House Oscar. That has now become a reality.”

“I haven’t said ‘yes’ yet.”

The princess concluded, to which Schild gave a retort. But then, Carney still couldn’t help but ask.

“T-then, w-what was the sex for?”

“it’s her way of getting into my head by getting physical with me,” answered Schild.

Once a man embraces a woman, his emotions will shift to his partner. And once it shifts to her, it will make the man want to help her.

Taking advantage of such psychology, Cymbium tried to obtain Schild in exchange for her purity. That’s why she said it was her ‘tribute’ to the man.

“You’re a bad girl, sis. Do you really want to be a queen that badly?”

“Unfortunately, I’m just like you. I have no desire for power. I just want to rescue my father from the captivity of the Oscars. In that sense, my goal is the same as yours for the most part. If you want, I can make you king after we defeat House Oscar.”

“I told you, I’m not interested.”

After embracing her, Schild has understood the cleverness of the woman named Cymbium.

He couldn’t help but felt uneasy, wondering if it was really a good idea to get close to such a woman.

“……Why are you not feeling anxious? Your virginity was taken last night, you know?”

“……Why? Is there a reason for me to get anxious?”

“There are men who will embrace a woman for as long as they can and then throw them away after having done it with them. If I were such a man, your plan would immediately fall apart.”

He couldn’t help but ask, as Cymbium has taken a pretty big risk there.

“That will never happen. After all, you asking that it is already a piece of evidence that you are the king’s son.”

“What?”

“Father is a man who never abandons what he needs to protect. His retainers, his people, and his daughters, even though a false one. From there, I was convinced that you, who inherited his blood, would never abandon a person with whom you once felt sympathy to.”

That’s why I wasn’t worried at all. Cymbium ended.

“But that man abandoned my mother and me at once.”

Schild displeasingly retorted.

“Sigh. I think you should see father personally, then. Ask him in person what he thinks of you and the reason why he kept you away. Because at this point, you won’t believe anyone anymore. So, what would you do?”

“………!”

Feeling as if he had been outdone, Schild vented in instead on the breakfast served before him.

Then, after gobbling it all out to calm himself down, he finally spoke.

“Alright. I guess I don’t have a choice, now that there’s no other way. I’ll help you out.”

“That’s wonderful! As expected of my little brother. With this, there’s also one more thing I have to make clear.”

“What is it now?”

“I gave my body and my innocence to win you over, but it seems I gave something else as well.”

Princess Cymbium said modestly.

“And that is?”

“My heart. I thought the male royalty’s “Majesty of the Lion” was just a rumor, that by being embraced once would be enough to confirm it myself, but I was wrong. it’s more powerful than what the rumors told, and now, as a consequence, I’m already desiring you to fuck me more once again!”

“What the hell!?”

“From now on, if you ever want to embrace me, just let me know! This big sister here is always ready to listen to his little brother’s perverted wishes at any time!”

It seems that her actions have caused her plans to backfire on her as well.

“In that case, I’ll guess I’ll have another go after breakfast, but before that…… can I ask you one more question?”

“Ask away, my little brother~.”

Her sudden change is terrifying.

“Though I’m flattered that you’d go to such lengths to win me over to your side, do you really think I’m worth it?”

Even though he was already believed as the king’s illegitimate son, Schild knows that he is not officially recognized. He wasn’t even formally announced, unlike his two ‘biological’ daughters, and because he was abandoned when he was born, it wasn’t even known to people that there exists a royal bastard.

Even if he were to suddenly reveal his existence in the royal court, it would not have any effect beyond causing a little confusion, or that’s what he believed.

“I said I’d help, but I don’t think there’s much I can do. After all, I’m just a monster slayer.”

“No, you’re not. You are worth more than you know.”

“I doubt that. Also, I have no influence, so me getting known won’t change anything.”

“Sigh. I really shouldn’t tell this, but I guess I have to, or else you’ll get careless and let out everything, endangering yourself in the process.”

The princess sighed in exasperation for the second time before facing Schild once again.

Then she explained.

“The kingdom announced that Serenea and I are his ‘biological daughters,’ as what you heard, but the term ‘biological’ is just to save his face as a king.”

“Just earlier, you were defending him as a good person.”

“Let me finish first, okay? The ‘biological’ part means that we also have the bloodline of royalty flowing in our veins, as the ancestors of the three biggest houses had also practiced marrying into the royal family countless times to retain the power and purity of the bloodline. So technically, we are more of ‘daughters’ of the throne than being the daughters of the king.”

“And that will put me in danger? Also, how did you know about this?”

“It was father who told me the truth, the same time he announced your existence to me.”

The king himself? He already knows? Was it a confession for his sins then? Telling them this late in time……

“See how important your position is now, Schild? In all aspects, you are the most legitimate person to the throne compared to Serenea or me. Once revealed, your existence alone will become a great shift to the political balance. Belittling your situation is like offering your neck to them in a silver platter.”

“What about your real father?”

Schild shifted his curiosity.

“Unknown. No traces. I don’t even know if he exists or not, as it was just news to me recently. And honestly, I was so busy to even care.”

Well, putting it into political perspective, it would certainly be dangerous if they were keeping records of it.

Still, Schild was surprised that Cymbium willingly shared with him these facts openly.

“By the way, does Serenea also know this?”

“I don’t know. But with them now almost in control of everything, I don’t think it matters anymore. Even my right of succession is being revoked by them.”

“I see.”

“So, in the meantime, I would like you to help us with your skills as a monster slayer.”

Cymbium deliberately shifted the topic.

“Sorry, but I only slay legitimate those that are monsters to the bone. I don’t slay monsters hiding in a court official’s clothing.”

“That’s not what I meant, though I would be pleased if you can. What I’m talking about is real monster-slaying.”

“Finally! A topic I could relate to!”

Carney interjected as if she has just been freed from the adverse topics of politics at last.

“The other day, something strange happened in a village a short distance from the royal capital. An aquatic monster called Octolov, which is not even supposed to appear in that area, suddenly appeared and infested the place.”

“Ah, that thing, huh.”

“Ah. Princess! It was Lord Schild who defeated it!”

Cymbium is once again surprised by the reaction of these two people.

“I see, so that’s what happened. This makes me want to expect more and more from you guys.”

“And? What’s about the Octolov?”

“Ara, excuse me. have you ever wondered why did the Octolov, which originally appears only in coastlines, to suddenly manifest in a poor village deep in the mountains?  The Monster Ecology Research team of the kingdom has looked into it, and they found something outrageous.”

“Outrageous? Come to think of it, I haven’t heard about them ever since.”

“Of course they don’t, at least not yet, as it will only induce panic. After all, they said that there’s a huge possibility that Demons were involved in this matter.”

Thanks for the chapters. Was not going to read this but was needing something. And it is a huge surprise, almost liking it better than Failure to transition due to faster pace. Do you like having the small type errors noted (Like she when it should be he) in comments?

I do, but I don't really have the time to go back and edit the chapters one by one (as I prioritize translating over editing), so please don't expect it to be corrected immediately. Still, feel free.
