About Patron Pick Rejections (Patreon)

Now that the suggestion period is over, I wanted to give my thoughts on the ideas people sent. For anyone who's idea didn't make the cut, you're free to message me about it, as I made it a point to write down the reason for rejection. 

Fortunately, there were enough sent that the ones which  didn't make the cut could simply be chalked up to not being interesting enough. However, even if the maximum number hadn't been reached, I still wouldn't have chosen them, as they all either didn't meet my criteria or, oddly enough, violated the "one character and one supporting character" rule in some way. For these, I feel no sympathy rejecting. 

Then there were those who sent really great ideas, but had one particular detail I didn't agree with. Since the details were so minor and the ideas were so good, I went back and forth for a few days on what to do, going so far as to make a post making mention of it. However, that didn't work, so in the end, I contacted these people in private about it. My reasoning is that since this is the first time I've taken on such a strict screening approach, I thought it only fair that I helped people who were just short of meeting my criteria. 

However! Now that I've done so once, I won't be doing so again. Even if it's a minor detail, if I don't agree with it, it won't make the cut and I won't inform people privately about this. That said, at worse, it only means these ideas miss the mark for one month and can potentially make the cut the next. It's not like the ones further above that I outright rejected who wouldn't make it in no matter what.
