Hey there, Oxdarock here!

So, like the title says, I have a SubscribeStar account now! It''ll pretty much be run the same as my Patreon, but there are certain differences which you can see at the beginning of the Guide page. So if you're done with Patreon for whatever reason, feel free to switch, but be sure to contact me about it first! I'm very, very new to the platform, so I'm very liable to make mistakes here and there.

Now, this doesn't mean that I'm going to stop using Patreon, since switching is a real pain for everyone involved, plus I can possibly make extra money using both. It's simply a precaution unless things don't work out with Patreon due to their recent 3rd party policing policy and a recent arbitration case that ended in their loss.

For the former, basically Patreon apparently has the right to request that take down content on other sites such as Twitter, Pixiv, etc, and even links to encrypted files (like Dropbox) sent through emails and messages, that don't comply with their ToS if you're funded by them. In simple terms, if they don't like what you post on other sites, they can hold your income hostage. It's also completely reliant on what they deem is appropriate, for example I've seen artists hit with such a notice based a character's face looking too young and based on an OC.

I'm sure many of you can agree that while it's fine for Patreon to police what goes up on their site, doing so in other places is crossing the line, even if they're legally able to. While I understand that they're trying not to get sued based on who's funded by them, such a policy is actually oppressive, in that it makes one afraid to even consider posting anything publicly that doesn't fit their standards for fear of having their income held hostage. While I'm thankful for all the support they've given me, if I ever get hit with this in the future, I'll have to stop doing business with Patreon immediately as that's not something I can tolerate.

As for the arbitration case, I don't have all the details, but basically, Patreon's at risk of losing a lot of money based on their ToS regarding arbitration. The two best videos to probably learn more on the matter would be this and this. As for me, making a SubscribeStar now is a precaution in case Patreon goes down like a sinking ship.

Anyway, that's all for me! Again, check out my SubscribeStar if you want to leave Patreon or want to throw even more money my way for reasons I can't figure out. At the very least, be sure to bookmark it somewhere!

That's all for now!

Patreon basically made their own bed with the old ToS and someone finally called them on it. We'll see if they go bankrupt or not by pulling their shady crap. I'll bookmark your subscribestar for now, just in case patreon goes down in flames.

Yup! That was more so the point than joining. Just letting people know my SubStar exists in case Patreon goes south. Thank you!
