there is a portion in their reality show called enhypen n hi where they have showed how jungwon was chosen as the leader. they basically had a month long process of testing like psycholoigical tests and member questionnairies about each other where heeseung and jungwon were chosen as the two candidates. jungwon is trusted by the members as someone they can talk to, someone who is objective and mature even more than the hyungs. in the end heeseung and jungwon had a talk where heeseung said he did not want to be leader as he already had a caretaker role as the oldest member. so jungwon was chosen

I totally understand that niki was a little distracted in this episode during some of their practice times, but I really don’t like how K singled him out and yelled at him on multiple occasions (keep in mind niki was 14 and K was 23). I feel like he could be sat niki down with the rest of the team there and had a more civil conversation than kinda yelling at him and causing him to cry in the bathroom :(

I kind of see leadership in Enhypen as: Jungwon- business/traditional leader Heeseung- emotional support/glue that holds the group together Jay- mom/home life leader I’m sure that’ll make more sense the more you watch I-land and definitely on Enhypen&Hi and their other variety stuff post debut. It’s amazing how Heeseung’s personality transformed/opened up once the leader burden was kind of lifted from him and he just gets to be the goofy dad now. It’s fun to rewatch this episode now knowing Jungwon is the leader and I can definitely see it. He has the disposition and unshakable nature of a strong but silent leader. I wish they showed more of him being a leader for the I Need You team because he killed it and his maturity amazes me considering he was only 16 during the show and when he became the official leader of Enhypen. 16yo me could NEVER. I’m so glad Geonu got his chance with Just B, he shines so much brighter in that group than he ever did on this show. I think he really found his groove and gained confidence after getting eliminated. He’s so talented but seemed a little lost during this show, but BAM when he showed up in that first teaser photo for Just B, I was blown away like “GEONU?! YES HE FOUND HIS MOMENT!!!” And again I am not in love with how they edited this show. They tend to introduce issues or tension within a group but don’t show the resolve. I know for a fact K did not leave that situation with Niki unresolved. They had to have talked it out as a group and completely resolved their misunderstandings but they didn’t include that footage or any footage of that group bonding and having fun. So as viewers we were “told” they talked it out(when the producers were talking to K before they preformed) but without seeing it, we are left with the emotional weight of that disagreement and only K’s word that it was resolved which plenty of people still don’t believe even now based on others comments. It messes with the hearts of the viewers and on a show where global voting is a big freaking deal, it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Also fun fact Jay speaks near fluent Japanese so he could definitely understand their conversations when K would switch. Also it’s not talked about enough that K switched to Japanese to make sure he was being authentic with Niki since he really struggles with Korean. And taking him to an area without cameras was him doing his best as a hyung to protect the kid. Like those parts shouldn’t have been included in the show AT ALL. That conversation happened away from cameras for a reason and I hate the adults who made the editing choice to include that footage for dramatic effect. This is not the Bachelor. Its just gross to me. K and Niki have an incredibly close relationship and I feel like only the bad sides got shown here, like when your really close friends call you out on your shit because they literally love you but someone from the outside looking in not knowing the context would step in and be like hey you’re being mean. We get such a tiny perspective of what happened during their time in I-land.
