James: Yes, and for once I will explain myself.

James: I could, but it will inevitably point to the 2010 Darren Aronofsky film. And while that IS an excellent film, like almost everything Aronofsky has directed, it does not relate in any way to this chapter. When it comes to my chapter titles (which often have double meanings) and the other Easter eggs I sprinkle in my stories, I usually prefer to let my readers follow the bread crumb trails I leave. I'll make an exception this time because "black swan" has a meaning that is, I think, not as well known. As defined by Investopedia:

A black swan is an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation and has potentially severe consequences. Black swan events are characterized by their extreme rarity, severe impact, and the widespread insistence they were obvious in hindsight.
