On today's episode We are joined by Author, LGBTQAI Activist and mother, @jodiepatterson . As a mother of 5, Jodie shares her journey in motherhood and raising her transgender son, Penelope. At the age of 3, Penelope expressed to Jodie that although he was born with female parts he identified as a boy. Not versed in the language, experience or community, this new development sent Jodie down an unexpected journey of personal transformation. Listen as she shares how Penelope opened up her world and unknowingly encouraged Jodie to educate herself and the world on why clearing the space for Transgender kids and adults is not only important... but a human right.

Join them as they discuss gender vs identity in both life and the black community, how she found love in the trans community, her own identity, and how she introduced her children to her partner. Ww also discuss why it's important to talk about these topics with your children sooner than later.
