The tree flows

Oh no, what an unpredictable and shocking twist! Nobody saw this happening! The entire reader base must be going mad with excitement!

Orion Dye

Not a bad chapter. Looking forward to the next one.

Interesting chapter and fun fight, but ultimately I'm here for rain leveling up. It's kinda annoying to see two people at that power level fight (as cool as it might be) while knowing that it will be a long long time before our MC can come anywhere close. The same goes for the majistraal stuff - we've seen how cool it is and can imagine how well rain will interact with it, but it now seems like it will be ages and ages before he will. Still enjoying the story a lot, and hoping you'll deal with these issues well!

Fuck. Interesting fight, good to see Rain in crisis management. But fuck, that ending...ugh. Its just leaves me feeling so slimy. I'm really dreading seeing the Citizen scum in the coming chapters, nevermind whatever shit Vikiana hashes out with Tallheart (likely coercing him by threatening Rain)

Bloodorange17

Fight was cool, but I'm here for Rain and his development and involvement. I felt like nothing happened this chapter. Unfortunately, this one's gonna be a no from me, dog.

nice chapter

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Arnon Parenti

Cheaty little nugget, I really wish Rain would find the town stone before them and steal their prize.

DNAjester

Yay thanks for the chapter hopefully Rain can enter the Lair under the city and find a blue woot woot or use a Focus Nova and melt their brains

Pretty good chapter! Shame we didn't see Rain get to use Winter to keep Halgrave cool (not that he could've known - a future chapter perhaps?) Also, please ignore the people who are only interested in a number increasing. Levelling up is fun because it's supposed to be hard; wouldn't be much of a story if it was as easy as they apparently want it to be. In terms of theorycrafting, we've now seen Hybridize, Triplicate Casting, and spell recursion. The first could be another tree's version of Prismatic Intent, indicating how hard it is to level (being only level 2 right now) Triplicate Casting and Spell Recursion and Dislocated casting are the more interesting ones from a practical perspective. Those are probably also from the same metamagic tree. Triplicate casting - higher levels probably reduces the extra mana cost. Spell Recursion allows for some insane multiplication, as it can be used on Triplicate Casting many times (especially with Specialization). The limiting factor here would be mana rather than skill level. And Dislocated Casting, for which the range was not established. We also found out that mana sight can see auras (i.e. the barrier), so Compression is going to be super important for Rain to avoid detection. Looks like Halgrave was added to the list of residents and then removed - presumably to allow him through the barrier. It's unclear why that was deemed acceptable - he can tell everyone very quickly once he finds another town. Presumably, the Adamant Empire attack is imminent and the DKE believes a week or so delay is enough. I'm curious to see if Rain's soulstrain training would minimise the effect of Stasis on him. I'd also like to see Westbridge's mana regen vs. Rain's. Multiplicative 90% is quite a lot and Westbridge should be more balanced between Clarity and Focus. He'll be far from full power for a few days at least.

One of my favourite chapters so far. That was a really cool fight. It's great (and sadly too rare) for a litRPG to really make you feel the difference in power scale between low levels and high levels. Delve's worldbuilding around the relationship between awakened, high levels, and unawakened is great, and this chapter was satisfying payoff for all that worldbuilding. What does everyone think; would Halgrave have won if it weren't for the barrier? I think he would have. It's a pity he didn't have some kind of vent heat skill. And what's everyone's prediction for how the obvious Winter related foreshadowing is going to play out. I'm guessing Rain will either be conscripted into using it, or he'll have to make a difficult moral choice. Does he turn les collaborator as a lesser of two evils?

He'd need a Blue to level up first, he doesn't have any Imperial Aura or skill points. I suspect Arcane Resistance would block a focus nova killing you anyway.

Great chapter! One of my biggest problems with litRPGs is main characters that get too powerful too quickly. This chapter works twofold, both showing where rain can go and taking some more time to let him get there. Thanks!

carebear90

Hmmm.... So I guess Rain will enter the Lair in the sewers to avoid this Mana Drain? What would happen if enough people enter the Lair? Would the barrier fail? Velika won't get to "her smith" for the time being. That's one thing at least.

carebear90

But she can't really get to Tallheart. He is outside the barrier. As is Halgrave...

If the whole story consisted of rain levelling up, it would be rubbish. What's the point of getting to level 50 and there's no one to fight. No world-building for there to be something interesting for him to do or no enemys for him to fight. This fight shows us the power of level 50s, so when he gets there, we can see how is build matches with them. Also, it's a good thing that he's nowhere near them and isn't anywhere near even getting there. It will make it all the more satisfying when he does get there, and if it were easy to get to that power level, I would find it cheap and boring.

I agree SS Should ignore the people only wanting rain every chapter. World building is what the story needs I think. Undrestand how the world works and things going on. My favourite thing so far is the magistaals they have some serious mysterious abilities with stuff like the barrier I think I also saw that there was a damage cap. This is big because rain can end up doing millions of dmg with nova blasts of his auras for very cheap. Now they might have a cap, which is good because a dmg cap seems better than some soul strain induced limit to me. Seeing all these other utility spells is awesome too. I'm very interested in seeing other peoples builds and skills.

Pyrefiend

I guess Rain is gonna be delving in the sewer dungeon, as I can't see him getting out of the city any time soon. That's probably where he will get his next blue as well. Perhaps he will end up using the dungeon to flee from the Invaders even.

LeapoldJKLOL

If they have to touch the stone to make changes to the list how did Halgrave actually outside the barrier in the first place when its set to block people from leaving? Also that barrier stone and the Stasis spell are OP heh.

Halgrave was added to the list initially by Westbridge so that he could so just this.

CentaureHeart

So he just ran away... I guess it's still a victory for him but my opinion of them could not get any lower now. And I'm guessing Halgrave will have it out for him..

ikorack

It makes sense though his whole plan was very conservative to begin with. He also has a whole for the clan mentality which tends to move away from glory seeking

Ziggy

Only just realized we have no idea what the level of the blue is in the lair under the city. Was thinking, "nah it's not gonna be over 18!" but... we have no idea. So totally possible.

Nanooki12

I'm all for world building and plot progress but rain hasn't progressed at all in quite a few chapters. It is great to see how crazy the upper levels are but it does make playing with foam bat's in comparison feel meh if it will take forever to upgrade to wooden stick level.

Alexander Dupree

So what is the current rating based on your new rating system?

SenescentSoul

The ratings here are just so I know how people feel about each chapter, not for an aggregate score.n there is nothing to compare it too, so combining them is not worth the effort.o sorry about the jibberish at the end of this message.o patreon dooes not like Firefoxo on android and I am too decafinated rrigt now to fix it 😴onoooooon

When’s the next update?

Rain is already at the level of a serious adventurer. He's a strong counter to swarm type enemies (he'd need some equipment for fire or cold resistance, but apart from that he's gold) and has a useful set of support powers. I'd be happy to see him adventurer and explore at his level for a bit.

tibbish

The author didn't say exactly but releases seem to be on a once a week schedule but result in longer chapters
