Here's our Alpha Roadmap as it stands. We've got the big elements of World Map 3.0 done, so we've moved it down, and next up on the chopping block is Combat 3.0, which will include the much-needed new battle UI to accommodate all of the existing and planned combat features, namely:

  • Health/Stamina/Balance/Mana/Stance of each combatant
  • Status Effects of each combatant
  • Current Attribute view of each combatant (based on Perception for enemy)
  • Lust/Arousal status of each combatant (Perception for enemy)
  • Display of possible skills
  • Combat Log that details exactly what occurred on a given turn and lets you read back at previous turns, divided into four quadrants (Effects of your attack on enemy, effects of enemy attacks on you, self effects, enemy self effects)
  • Possible battle endings, along with progress made towards each (more clear goals)
  • Weapon status of each combatant
  • Armor/Shield status of each combatant
  • Predictive skill display (Perception)
  • Grapple Status
  • Range
  • Ability to "drill in" and see what skills will be available if you switch to a given stance
  • Support for multiple enemies
  • Support for NPCs against NPCs
  • View of selected enemy or current stance-based CG
  • Option to turn off UI
  • Option to toggle CG for alternate views (X-rays and such)
  • Option to surrender (there will be some separate battle endings for Forfeit vs. Defeat)

Alongside Combat 3.0, we'll be working on Character 2.0, cleaning up and adding elements to the strategic portion of the game and character customization/character attributes. Things like Dignity/Depravity, Willpower, Feminization and Fetishes will get expanded and incorporated into more encounters in congruence with the design, so that it's obvious what trade-offs there are to be made while still encouraging players to make their own choices without being punished for them (except if you have high strength against the werewolf and blunder into triggering her alternate defeat scene, which will always "punish" you). 

That will also include the skill overhaul, where status effects and bonuses are fully integrated into skills, differentiating them and making it more effective to have a suite of core skills and an orbit of situational skills than to use one skill over and over again (unless that one skill is "Deepthroat", which will always be an effective solution to someone else having a full nutsack, although variety is the spice of life).  This will also include re-balance and more clarity about the different skill effects, so this is also partially combat work, which is why the two will be happening in tandem. 

We're hoping to have more posts like this and posts where we discuss the design of the game and invite suggestions or comments than we did in 2018, but not to the detriment of ToA development, so it'll be a balancing act.

Im looking forawrd to these! Personally Id like more representation of Hiros Status physically or perhaps mentally. The new outfits are a cool addition and the colon status mentioned in one of the last posts is a good step-forward. Thanks for everything and Happy (late) New Years!

most responses I get when I show the game off is concern over the combat complexity, there's too much going on with not much difference and it comes off as just a wall of confusion to new people. even I dont know the effective difference between block and fadeaway still. I want pruning, or at least some clean tooltips.

That's why we're doing the combat UI, so you can actually see what's happening. If you want pruning, there are other games that have it; we have no plans to add it.

it would be nice to see multiple view points when being facesat, or doing the facesitting. i like that almost every character except centaur's and giants (which i would like to see too) will do that if you're prone face-up.
