Hey there! Since we hit our 11th (!!!) goal, that means two things: we'll be doing a 24-hour viewer's choice/hang-out/requests livestream sometime in July, and our 12th goal is well underway, which is to hire someone (or someones) to help us work on ToA. We've had some people come on a volunteer basis, but these will be our first paid collaborators.

Here's a list of the available positions:

  • Background artist
  • Spine animator
  • Frame-by-frame animator
  • QA/Playtesting
  • Voice acting (femme voices only for now)*
  • Sound designer
  • Composer

At this time, we aren't looking for volunteers with the exception of playtesting - if you'd like to do some playtesting in exchange for some discord perks, a shout-out in the credits, or because you don't feel comfortable with a paid position, you can contact us on discord.

Anyone we work with can be assured they'll be well-compensated for their time and work, and will not be working "for exposure". We'd likewise expect professionalism and diligence, but timetables and work continuity will, with a few exceptions due to a need for consistency, be left to your discretion.

We also have to get some of our ducks in a row, so we likely won't be formally hiring anyone for a longer time commitment until August at the earliest.

If you or someone you know might be interested, feel free to reach out to us on here through DM, on discord (Majalis-Writer#0256) or at majalis.patreon@gmail.com.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of what we'd be looking for in each role, so you can judge for yourself if it'd be a good fit.

Background artist

This is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin - someone who'd be drawing new backgrounds for the various game locations and scenes. These are currently all static, and though we're planning on including minimal animation in the future, animation wouldn't be required. If you're interested in this, please send us some artwork or link thereto, preferably artwork that's analogous to background work, like landscapes, environment shots or background work you've done on other projects.

Spine animator

We use Spine as our animation suite - it has a direct integration with libGDX, our current development framework, so it's a pretty simple pipeline for us to create a Spine animation and then get it up and running in ToA. This is primarily character work, but we are also using it for animated sex CGs. If you have experience with Spine that'd be ideal, but anyone willing to use Spine who has 2D animation experience would be suited for this. We'd want to see some of your 2D animations that were created with Spine or some equivalent 2D animation tool.

Frame-by-frame animator

We have animations that are done on a frame-by-frame basis, and we'd like to include more of these, whether they're for small things like our little Trudy/Kylira sprite animations or for sex animations, generic or specific. If you have experience with "hand-drawn" style animation, we'd like to see one or two finsihed examples, although keyframes or sketch animations would also be good to see.

QA/Playtesting

As it stands, we do all of our own QA and play-testing, which is definitely not a best practice. We've had some volunteers, but we'd need someone willing to dedicate their time on a regular basis to provide QA and playtest any new features, as well as ongoing bug-hunting. We'd need someone to document reproduction steps, and someone who was capable of testing on multiple target platforms (Windows/Mac/Linux/Android) would be ideal. At this scale, I don't think we'll be using a task management platform like JIRA or Trello, but we might, so experience using any of those would be desirable.

Voice acting*

We currently have a few voice clips that we use that have come from our sound suite, but we'd want to commission small voice clips for the various characters. We'd want to hear some existing voice samples.

Sound designer

We've purchased a sound suite for sounds in the game, but getting the desired effects can be tricky. We're looking for someone who can mix/record, or has a purchaseable library of, the appropriate sounds for ambient effect and for sexy times.

Composer

This one is fairly self-explanatory - someone who could compose original music for ToA. We'd need you to provide a few existing pieces of music you've composed, preferably ones you feel would be something like what would be appropriate for ToA. Don't worry about matching the music that currently exists in the game, which is all royalty free, and can be swapped out entirely.

*Since we mentioned voice acting, just to head off some inevitable comments - we have no plans for a fully voice acted script, we do have plans for a minimal amount of fully voice acted lines, we're mainly interested in small voice snippets - words, phrases, vocalizations, and you'll be able to mute voices separately from other game sounds.

That moment when you see *voice actor* and get excited and then immediately saddened when it says *femme voices only*
