I feel like this episode shows that while Michael doesn't have a perfect understanding of humanity and can mess up his tortures, he's still way better than most demons. No biting!

While their memories have been erased, I feel like Eleanor's made enough progress that it's affected her subconscious. Like how she didn't get drunk on attempt two, but I think Eleanor from S1E1 would have even with the note and gym guy. So that's how they're going to figure out attempt three.
