Typing this now before I forget, have not yet finished the episode so maybe it got explained. But Pollina mentioned she had a mission to look for another planet inhabitable to humans. I assume the reason she freaked out it because she was told something bad was going to happen to Earth, hence the need for finding another planet. But since the Earth is fine she went on this mission for nothing. Her comrades died on this planet while looking for somewhere safe to live, for no reason. Because nothing happened.

So, clone stuff connects to genetic testing. Zach's dad researching memory transplants relates to Aries not remembering the blonde guy. Memory transplants and cloning match up with making copies of people. Can't quite match that up with an apocalypse at the moment, but I'm sure it will connect to Polina's side of things somehow. So that leaves Kanata and singing girl who aren't yet related to the rest of the plot. Kanata's backstory is fleshed out enough that they could leave it at that and his being here is more coincidence (though he could absolutely be involved more). Less sure on singing girl.
