So, Fiona and Cake last episode was so dull in a sense because Simon stopped being magic? So his imagination is less magical? But it was being actually beamed into his head? So, theory, the magical world Fiona and Cake lived in was gonna be destroyed in some disaster, so as a last ditch effort the entire universe got beamed into a person's head to preserve it. This being the Ice King's head. (Some bits of the universe fell out along the way, which is how fake Fiona got her video). Then, when Simon was returned to normal by Betty, the magical universe inside his head was also turned ordinary. And because neither Simon nor the universe are magical anymore, the communication between them stopped. Until he did that spell and now Cake has successfully escaped her dying reality but is now a normal cat, and presumably Simon will so the thing or similar again so that Fiona comes here or something.
