I have a theory! Want to first state for the record though that I haven't seen this show either though have been spoiled on the audio for one song we haven't come across yet. The scroll looks like it was torn, and since the left side showed sundrops creating the sunflower, I'm guessing the right side would be moondrops creating a moonflower. Not sure whether the moonflower would become a person like Rapunzel is, but I think that's what's causing the rocks. Also interesting that we don't properly see Varian this episode. He seemed antagonistic last time we saw him, but he led Rapunzel to important information. Maybe it's just that it's sad information and he wants her to feel DESPAIR. Or it could be bunnies.
