Rated K: For Kids By Kids (& The Big Ballot) - Nick Knacks Episode #050

For episode FIFTY of Nick Knacks, we look at Rated K, a young person's film review show. Thirteen year old children give their opinions on films like Stand By Me, Soul Man, and That's Life. You know, that movie where Jack Lemmon feels really bad about being sixty? Kids love that stuff! Also, a look at the proto-Kids Choice Awards, The Big Ballot! Cool perspective! Yeah I think the problem is the lack of polish and the search for "real kids" hamstrung them with people without training or who don't look great on camera. Makes the whole thing seem like a middle-school film debate that somehow got Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel to show up for their finals. I think they needed the showbiz polish earlier to keep it working, maybe it could have lasted longer. However, I think you have a point with that bit, the slogan was important and helped Nick going forward. Looking forward to the next episode!
