(Pokemon: Legends Arceus)

It’s been a few days since Akari went missing. Naturally, the Survey Corps launched a search party - several in fact, but none of them bore fruit - not even a torn-away scrap of her outfit to indicate she was ambushed by an angry pokemon. There were a few attempts to use some tamed Shinxes or Growlithes, but those didn’t prove too helpful either. While some were slowly giving up hope, a friend of hers stood firm in her belief that the girl wasn’t so weak as to get killed by the wilderness.

Azeru, formerly known as Rei, was patrolling the Obsidian Fieldlands… Though to say she was doing it for entirely selfless reasons would be a lie. The woman of course wanted to get Akari back, but with her past life as a pokemon champion, the girl also enjoyed this opportunity to hone her skills… After all, if a strong pokemon was the reason for the disappearance, she’d finally have a good training partner to fight against! Ever since she had found that Lopunnite, she has only used it once, after all. Megaevolving put quite the burden on both the trainer and the pokemon, so she’d rather not waste it on small fry… And so, the redhead searched for both her friend and strong opponents, completely unaware that… the girl she was looking for was part of her very own Lopunny’s necklace!

Indeed, ever since that rather short-lived high of being used right after her transformation, Akari was forced around the rabbit pokemon’s neck 24/7, with nothing of note really happening, other than her new wearer fighting wild pokemon from time to time…

But all of that would soon change, as Arezu encountered something she wasn’t exactly prepared for.

“I-Is this an Alpha…? Must be, t-the eyes are so red!” The redhead hid behind a rock while thinking over what to do… but the answer was obvious. Alphas were a rarity, so she had to take every opportunity to test the mega stone out, right? And so, without giving it further thought, the trainer ordered her ace to attack the red-eyed Luxio, but would this be enough…? The Lopunny was clearly struggling, so yet another order was made - “Megaevolve!”

A somewhat forgotten, yet familiar energy ran through Akari’s form and– h-huh?! No, something’s different! W-what’s going on!? Arezu, please undo it…!

…But of course, her pleas went fully unheard, and the former human found herself looking at… the ground…?

W-why am I so close to the grass, I-I can basically see individual blades and– a-ah, I’m getting closer to it– O-ow!!

Neither Arezu, Akari, or even the Lopunny were aware that the former Survey Corps member was currently residing inside the pokemon itself… or to be more precise, her foot. With every step taken by the normal-type creature, Akari’s face had an unfortunate, yet completely unavoidable meeting with the ground, which… considering the Pokemon mostly used hops to move around, was quite often.

Even worse, as luck would have it, the blue-haired gal had the luxury of becoming the dominant foot - the one her new owner used to kick the furious alpha with every high jump kick or quick attack ordered. By the time the Luxio fell, Akari’s whole existence hurt from the constant strikes, be it against the electric type’s body or the cold ground beneath… A-at this point, she’d prefer to be a dumb stone, that was boring, sure, but at least she didn’t feel like she’d puke!

Her wish was partially granted, as once the battle came to a close, the Lopunny went back to her default form, and Akari herself was back inside her circular prison… But one thought simply wouldn’t leave her head - What was going to happen the next time she was used…?
