Although in the (CANON AU) he was assigned to specifically kill Jiyuu ordered by the commission, he contemplated on the idea to either save her or leave her to die and retrieve the baby instead but was subconsciously being eaten by guilt and partially blamed himself that she became a villain. Since his memories with her was filled with him verbally becoming a great hero like endeavor but after seeing her as a villain now and for whatever reason, he felt that he would make it up to her for the sake of their memories as it seemed like "he became the number 2 hero yet couldn't save someone close to him"
