This show is definitely very layered. I guess, the best way to put it is: if you're confused, just wait. There are so many questions that the first episode gives you... What did Nell really see? Why did she go to the house? Why did she die? What happened between the siblings that brought them to where they are now? What happened between Steve and his wife? How and why did their mother die? Is this real or something in their heads (like in the stories Steve tells)? I've seen reactors watch this show and not have the siblings straight at this point (in order of age: Steve, Shirley, Theo, Luke, and Nellie) so, don't worry about being confused, the full picture gradually gets revealed. (And the next series is a haunting, but the third series is different, and I haven't finished the new one yet but I imagine it's something different, too.) The child actors are extremely talented and, you're right, young Nell was definitely in M3gan. Some other fun actor facts, the actress playing older Theo is also the star of Flanagans best film (imo), Hush. And she's his wife, too! And, if you watched GoT, then you may have recognized older Steve as "sexy-dangerous" Dario Naharis. And, if you watched Twilight - older Shirley is in those movies as Renee, the vamp mom. 😁 Edit: oh! And I totally forgot to say that the actor playing Young Hugh is Henry Thomas - who I first knew as Elliott in E.T. The Extraterrestrial (1982)!
