HAHAHAHAHA you got ahead of the "toe story" - E'erbody gonna be soooo mad. LOL (Did you know that Viggo Mortensen was SO dedicated to the character that he 1. adopted both Brego and Hasufel - two horses in the movie - after filming? and 2. Was very nearly arrested for scaring the shit out of a New Zealand restaurant by going to get a bite to eat after a long day of filming and didn't think to leave his sword behind or, you know, take a bath first.) Ok, that's my LOTR film trivia for the day. This is my favorite of the three, and I think I can chalk it up to the Rohan theme (when those Violins kick in...it's just perfect) and basically the entire last hour of the movie. There wasn't a single storyline that didn't hit home in some way. Between Sam's speech, the "last march of the Ents", and "At dawn, look to the east." - I spend almost the entire section completely entranced. Thank you so much for these!

To answer your question about filming the Treebeard stuff...combo of miniatures, stop motion, and a pretty intense animatronic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUIwvE8OTCg). And, to speak to the "what's an extended vs. not" - the theme is "Merry and Pippin and Faramir" Basically, from the Two Towers onward....most of the deleted scenes had to do with Merry/Pippin or Faramir. Boromir's flashbacks got deleted entirely...he's not in the theatrical edition at all. Most of the Merry/Pippin and Treebeard stuff was cut, including the whole scene with the growth water - a shame for all book readers because it was said that a relative of theirs (a Took, I believe) was the only Hobbit able to ride a full-sized horse because he was just tall enough. Annnnnyway! I really do hope you enjoy the Return of the King - it's long, but the story deserves it!

can I just say thank you for having Subtitles? I don't know if you do them yourself or if it's a Patreon thing but either way I really appreciate it, as someone who is hard of hearing since birth it's always nice having that option because it helps me understanding a bit better.
