When these episodes (Mirror and Ocean Gem) were made, SU had a very uncertain future. There was even a time when this could have been the series finale! But, thankfully, that didn't happen. By the time these aired, SU got renewed for S2 and the 2nd half of S1 was on the way. You might notice an uptick in the animation quality (aka: increased budget) and more direct plot continuation now! You've officially made it past SU: the introductory episodes!! 😉 Fair warning: for some reason, the air order and actual timeline are a bit wonky for the 2nd half of this season and the first few episodes of S2. But, tbh, whatever order you have is probably not far off enough to make much difference. I would recommend watching "Story for Steven" during S1 - just before "The Message" (which starts the 4 part finale). Sometimes, that one is in S2 but it really just fits better in S1, imo.
