Hey all, posting a pretty significant update to the "Alternate Artificer: Expanded" today! I've only made one change to the Alternate Artificer base class - the Alchemist now learns acid splash at 1st level (along with the other features).

As for the Expanded document, I've added a number new Infusions and updated all TEN of my additional subclasses for the Artificer:

Aeronaut: Take to the skies with your arcane Flying Machine!

Archivist: Awaken Artificial Minds with my favorite cancelled UA subclass!

Biomancer: Create a strange facsimile of life and modify your own biology!

Chronothief: Manipulate time with your own Chronometer!

Composer: Assault your enemies with the sound of your Musical Apparatus!

Dungeoneer: Design deadly traps with the mundane! Someone has to be building all of these dungeons... right?

Enhanced: Modify your body with arcane Enhancements and Blades!

Forgewright: Charge into battle armed with your Arcane Armament weapon!

Machinist: Create an army of Automatons to serve your every whim!

Puppeteer: Control and manipulate the battlefield with your Marionette Strings!

Alternate Artificer by laserllama

A graying gnome hunched over his workbench, carefully adjusting the clockwork mechanism that would power his creation. Before him laid an automaton of intricate iron gears within a suit of plate armor, built to resemble a large gnome. As the tiny inventor affixed his signature mithril mustache to the face plate, a jolt of electric-blue magic flashed from the automaton.

Love it! Was checking out the machinist and was just wanting some clarification. From the wording it seems like you create the automaton at the end of a long rest and then it break after an hour. Or does it only break once you've activated it?

That’s a good catch, I think breaking an hour after you “start it up” wouldn’t be unreasonable.
