Hey all, been spending a ton of time lately updating and creating new subclasses for the Artificer. Some of these are a first draft, so I'd definitely love your feedback!

Aeronaut (Updated): Take to the skies with some small formatting, grammar, and phrasing updates for this winged Specialist.

Archivist (Updated): Reviving my favorite UA subclass with this Specialist who has unlocked the secret of creating artificial intelligence.

Biomancer (New): Experiment with the magic of the flesh and create an Aberrant Chimera familiar that can heal your allies and fuse with you to enhance your own physical abilities with this ethically questionable Specialist.

Chronothief (New): Steal time and bend reality with this Chronomancy themed Specialist who dares to meddle with the magic of time!

Composer (Updated): March in tune and deliver devastating blasts of sound to your enemies with this musically oriented Specialist.

Dungeoneer (Updated): Someone has to be constructing all of these dungeons. Master the mundane with this defensive Specialist.

Forgewright (Updated): Become the martial Artificer that deep down we all wanted to come out with the base class.

Machinist (New): Created for one of my awesome Archmage tier Patrons, this Artificer gathers information and overcomes challenges with their own small army of tiny magical Automatons.

Puppeteer (New): Pull the strings of battle with this strange and whimsical battlefield control based Specialist for the Artificer.

Alternate Alchemist (New): A version of the official Alchemist that makes sense and brings it up to par with the rest of the Artificer Specialists. No more randomness, and your Elixirs scale with your proficiency bonus.

Artificer Specialties & Infusion Options by laserllama

At 3rd level, an artificer gains the Specialist feature. The following options are available in addition to those in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything; Aeronaut, Archivist, Biomancer, Chronothief, Composer, Dungeoneer, Forgewright, Machinist, Puppeteer, and the Alternate Alchemist. One of the most dangerous obsessions an artificer can pursue has always been mechanical flight.

Love the biomancer as an archetype and all of the high level infusions. General feedback, I like a lot of the Alternate classes because they have more meaningful choices and more ways to play more functionally without pushing the power curve too hard. I think that the Forgewright is a great example. The Battlesmith is part weapon focus but largely built around a steel defender but the Forgewright is a more focused weapon master and the pet subclasses have a few different paths. It's nice seeing features that support primary functions instead of the shotgun approach of WOTC.

Glad you like them! I feel like WotC got a little gun shy with the subclasses that originally came out. Just pick a cool "invention" and base the subclasses around that. I wanted to play a "weapon inventor/warrior" with my artificer and ended up playing a Battle Smith until the Armorer came out. Neither quite scratched the itch.

Nnn...I actually much prefer the previous build of the Alternate Alchemist. I understand this one is closer to basic but...the previous one actually felt like an Alchemist with a variety of potions that they could craft (even if it was just spell effects) and this is just a step back towards the bland and uninspired class feature of a that terrible D6 potion effect. (I played the previous build as an Artificer in a Humblewood campaign and everyone loved it. My homonculus was a Flubber-like gel that would soak up the Elixirs and deliver them like a sentient gelatin mold slapping them in the mouth. It literally even saved my character's life at one point!)

Oh, before I face backlash, I DID just realize that this is not quite the same as the base Alternate Artificer and it's more of an add-on (but it should still follow that I VASTLY prefer that version to this one~)
