Hey all, I am very excited to present what I think is the finalized version of the Alternate Sorcerer (at least the base class). I've gotten a ton of play test feedback, and I'm fairly confident that this is a well-balanced, improved take on the Sorcerer.

Alternate Sorcerer (Version 3.1.0)

  • Misc art updates
  • Split into “Alternate Sorcerer” and “Alternate Sorcerer: Expanded”
  • Reduced total number of spells you learn at each level by 1 by level 20, putting the Alternate Sorcerer in-line with a PHB Sorcerer using an Origin from *TCoE*.
  • Spell Versatility - Still included, but as an optional rule to be used with *TCoE*.
  • Font of Magic - Reverted. Spend Sorcery Points once per day to permanently learn a new spell, overwriting another one of your Spells Known.
  • Sorcerer Spell List Added!
  • Spell List / Cantrips - Added *produce flame*
  • Spell List / 1st-Level - Added *frost fingers, Tasha’s hideous laughter*
  • Spell List / 2nd-Level - Added *melf’s acid arrow, ray of enfeeblement*
  • Spell List / 3rd-Level - Added *life transference, nondetction, sending, tidal wave, wall of sand*. Removed *flame arrows*.
  • Spell List / 4th-Level - Added *Otiluke’s Resilient Sphere*
  • Spell List / 5th-Level - Removed *insect plague*
  • Spell List / 6th-Level - Added *tenser’s transformation, wall of ice*.
  • Spell List / 7th-Level - Added *whirlwind*. Removed *dream of the blue veil*
  • Spell List / 8th-Level - Added *antimagic field*
  • Sorcerous Arcanum - Clarified wording, added a table with the Sorcery Point cost of using your Font of Magic feature on an Arcanum spell.
  • Manifestations / Dynamic Presence - Only grants you double proficiency if you are already proficient in the skill you choose.
  • Elemental Origins / Heart of ____ - Fixed mixed up language.
  • Emberheart / Wild Fire - Added damage table by creature size.
  • Emberheart / Kindle the Flame - Changed to temporary hit points.
  • Stoneblood / Crushing Blow - Now works against anything you hit, not just creatures.
  • Stormsoul / Stormsoul Spells - replaced *maelstrom* with *bigby’s hand*.
  • Stormsoul / Windcaller - you can spend 9 sorcery points to cast *wind walk*.
  • Stormsoul / Primordial Storm - reworked to match the Emberheart’s capstone feature.
  • Waveborn / Waveborn Spells - replaced *hold monster* with *maelstrom*.
  • Waveborn / Curse of the Depths - Greatly simplified, spend an extra sorcery point when you deal cold damage to slow a target.
  • Waveborn / Shifting Form - New feature. I felt the previous one was too convoluted, had too many steps (multiple saving throws for one action), and didn’t fit with other 5e mechanics.
  • Waveborn / Primordial Waters - Removed permanent resistance to b/p/s damage.

  • Arcane Manifestations - Seven New Manifestations!
  • Divine Right - Returning Sorcerous Origin!
  • Feyblood - Returning Sorcerous Origin!
  • Hellspawn - NEW Sorcerous Origin! (think Bladesinger for Sorcerers + Demonic flavor)
  • Ironmonger - NEW Sorcerous Origin! (Magneto + Fate/Zero ?!)
  • Voidwielder - NEW Sorcerous Origin!

The pallid half-elf muttered an incantation under his breath, and his shadow came alive, taking the form of a massive wolf. The dark beast pounced on the foolish bandit that had attacked them, and pinned him to the ground. The half-elf chanted another incantation, and orbs of pulsing acidic energy formed in his hands.
