Hey everyone, I just learned of the passing of Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball.  It's truly a sad day for anime/manga fans :(  Dragon Ball was the first and/or greatest experience with anime, especially here in the US, for a lot of people.  And needless to say his work is iconic, with countless influences on later series and pop culture.  He will be missed!!!

This is sad indeed. Even though Dragon Ball & DBZ was not as important to me as it was to other people since my introduction to anime was Pokémon at 4/5 years old & Naruto as a teenager I am so thankful that Dragon Ball (that and the Akira movie) is one of the big reasons anime was able to become so popular in the US. And that’s because anime has created so many impactful memories and moments for me over the course of watching anime. Toriyama san has created a timeless story that will be remembered forever & he will be missed. It’s very touching that he was able to touch so many people’s hearts over his lifetime which is an accomplishment many don’t people don’t reach its inspiring may he rest in peace. :-) <3

Wait, I've only just become a DB fan after years of thinking it stupid this year thanks to DB Kai in local television in my country and you're saying that - the man I've heard of since my little cousin was little - that everything's over, that Toriyama's dead? /checks. He is. Oh. I don't know what I'm feeling. I don't know the man. /prays for him and family. I mean, I know not everything's over. whatever else, all my respect to Toriyama - he's done well in his job
