Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction/review of episodes 5 and 6 of V4 of RWBY!  WOW, we get a ton in these eps!  First of all, it never occurred to me that Blake had a family - and one that had such strong ties with the White Fang!  Based on what she said back in season 1, I always thought she was an orphan or something.  Nope!!!  And it looks like there was still a faction of the White Fang that was more peaceful...but there's actually not anymore...because they're working for Adam???  Second, we get a great Weiss episode here, really highlighting how much she no longer fits into the world that she was brought up in.  The sheer lack of understanding of anything outside their world really irritates her, seeing as how she's not only seen how others live, but went through the events of their "charity" firsthand.  Last but not least, you know my man is showing up to save his niece when Tyrian arrives ready to snatch her up in the creepiest way possible!!!  Literally cannot wait to see more!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hi :D Now you have met the other good "father figure" that I told you about. Ghira is a really good character and to finally see a working parent couple makes good between Tai separated from Raven and widower of Summer and the Schnee family, torn between a manipulative and self-centered father, and a mother drowning in alcohol. About the White Fang, Blake explains that the former leader (his father), left his place and it is at this time that the actions of White Fang are hardened. The leader in question is Sienna Khan, whose name Salem mentioned in Episode 1. About the song of Weiss, this is the song that I can't wait for you to react to the full version, like you say, the lyrics are really perfect for Weiss and very powerful. One of my favorite song in the 7 volumes. For Tyrian, his semblance it seems to me allows him to cut directly into the auras (this is never explained in the series clearly), so he must be able to see the auras and see that Jaune has a lot of them, that's surely why he interested him. But it's never really cleared up in the show. Edit : Oh and yes, he drop the map. I told you, the map is a running gag in this volume :D

I am actually looking forward to the moment where your all caught up and then you have to wait several months for the new volume like the rest of us, I think you will catch up to volume 8 when we are all waiting for volume 9 lol but great reaction as always I just wish you could binge a 3rd episode a week because I am greedy lol, now that volume 8 is having a mid season break for a few weeks I am happy your reactions are still here xx

kamenriderhime

Hi!!!! :D Ahhhh yes! And so true, we get to see a more functional parental unit here! Ahhhh yes, thanks for clearing that up about the new leader of the White Fang! I had totally forgotten that Sienna Khan was mentioned in ep 1. I'm so excited to react to this soundtrack, the Weiss song sounded amazing from what I heard!!! Oooohhh that's his semblance, interesting! Hahahaa the map!!!! I love it! Thanks for all the info!!!!

kamenriderhime

Ahhhhhh I can't wait to be caught up but I will be so sad to have to wait!!!!!!!! Don't know how you guys do it!!! Maybe I'll take that time to catch up on RWBY Chibi haha!!!

Gira's (Blake's dad) Faunus traits aren't very apparent. He's kinda like Tuckson, the bookstore owner that Emerald and Mercury killed back at the beginning of volume 2. Weiss' song "This life is mine" is my favorite song out of all the RWBY ost so far not only because the full song is incredible but also because it is a big "F you" to Jacques from Weiss. I'm so looking forward to this volume OST reaction because this volume has several very interesting songs.

yes you met Blakes parents I think you're going to like the interactions between Ghira and Sun. Really love the part where Weiss told that lady off also how dare Tyrian call Roman Torchwick a pawn and yes there are 12 episodes this volume

I hate that I can't be the first to comment anymore since it's on Wednesdays D:

Manny

I think ur right because it was a heat of the moment thing when she last used her semblance. The heat of the battle. 🐗 My main man Qrow showing up all sophisticated and cool like. 😎

kamenriderhime

Ahhh okay! Thanks for letting me know. I really liked that bookstore owner! Still sad he’s gone! And good choice on the song! I can’t wait to react to it when I listen to the soundtrack!!!

kamenriderhime

Yes!!! Hahaha I’m really enjoying them so far! Weiss was great and so true about Roman lol. Thanks!

Manny

My bad I'm talking about Weiss up top. No control, you know. Just wanna be clear

kamenriderhime

Aw no I’m sorry! I changed it so people would hopefully have less issues playing it...! 😞

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything about Tyrian, this episode is the first time that we see his scorpion tail. It's implied that he normally keeps it wrapped up around his midsection behind this wide cummerbund-like thing he's wearing, or hidden beneath a long coat. But as this is a 3D model, instead of showing how it was hidden in earlier scenes, the animators simply just didn't include it on his model up to now. 2 minor details about him in this fight: His wrist blades fit the scorpion theme by looking like open pincers when extended. And right at the end of the episode when he is about to sting Ruby, his eyes change colour from gold to purple.

kamenriderhime

Oh good! Thanks! Ah okay, didn't know that about the 3D model. Ohhh good call, did not notice those scorpion details!!! Thanks!

I love episode 5. It’s so great to see the island of Menagerie and so many different kinds of Faunus including one who appears to have lizard like skin. It’s very interesting to learn more about the plight of the Faunus and what they have to go through in the world of RWBY and what the island is symbolic of. Also while it definitely is the Australia of Remnant design/look wise the habitable part of it seems like Hawaii at least to me. And Sun being the best boy is here to lighten the mood and be there for Blake. I love that you brought up Blake and Weiss being more similar than you 1st think with Blake technically being a princess. Kali and Ghira are amazing parents I love them and the comedy that is created because of the interactions is incredible. The scene with the White Fang members is so intense and I love how intimidating Ghira can be. Also the names of these 2 members are based on different types of foxes Corsac and Fennec. Also being more serious this time but that poor, poor waitress. It’s so creepy but I love that the episode ends going to black with just Tyrion’s eyes being visible.

Supermonaman

Now onto episode 6 1 of my favorite episodes mostly for seeing even more of Weiss’s development. It was so interesting to learn more about the world through this unfinished village and Ren. I loved learning about and getting hints about his backstory. It shows even more that the world is darker than you would’ve thought at the beginning of the show. And then moving on to Weiss’s performance and the best Weiss song no contest. It says so much about Weiss as a character and her feelings about her father and the most part is that it’s basically a big fuck you towards her dad. And unfortunately we move on to Weiss being stuck at a high society party filled with arrogant and ignorant people. It was tough seeing Weiss having to deal with her father’s controlling behavior but it was nice to see her resist his influence and rely more on herself like she’s been trying to do since the show began. Also you can just feel the sleazy arrogance oozing off of Jacques as well as how fake he is. It’s so well-written to see that Weiss no longer fits in here if she ever did. Also it’s downright depressing that even though this event is to raise money no one really cares it’s basically just for appearances. Also that woman saying really terrible things in the credits is just called Trophy Wife. And the really messed up thing is that the husband believes the same thing but has a false face in public. It was so amazing getting to see Weiss stand up for herself and callout all these people for their emptiness basically. It really could’ve been a worse situation if Ironwood or as honestly many people refer to him from volume 4 onward Irondaddy myself included embarrassingly had not intervened and it says a lot about his in my opinion complex character that like Weiss he comes from Atlas but is very different from these people. And even though it looks like she’s going to get in trouble you cannot help but cheer you go girl throughout this part. And now onto Tyrian and the fight against team RNJR. I know he’s a creepy fucker but I can’t help but love him as a character and I think that comes down to loving Joker like villain characters. Also his performance is absolutely phenomenal and you can tell his actor is having the time of their life playing him. You can tell how strong this character is and how outclassed our protagonists are by the fight. Him being a scorpion Faunus was such a surprise especially because at the time no one thought they could have insect traits. 2 fun facts his name is a shade of purple which can represent royalty and the reason he sits so strangely in the 1st episode is because of his scorpion tail. Also his theatrics are comedic gold. You can really feel the urgency at the end of the episode and I love that Qrow comes in with a really cool and awesome entrance. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the next 2 episodes after I read the reply to this in the morning. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

So Ghira is basically the democratically elected Executive (Chieftain) in Menagerie. The White Fang in Menagerie are more like a political party and quasi-religious sect....more like the Irish Sinn Fein than the IRA (White Fang abroad)...connected but not directly, at least ostensibly. Blake is essentially First Daughter...and her family lives at the Menagerie equivalent of The White House.....but the ties between WF in Menagerie and Adam's faction are closer than Corsac & Fenec are letting on to Ghira.

Ch.6 Weiss is basically a traumatized combat veteran....she lived through the Fall of Beacon and can't stand to hear these Atlesian elites make light of what happened. She eventually snaps. The only person in that room who understands what she's going through is General Ironwood, who is also a combat veteran.

kamenriderhime

So true!! Who could blame her! And great point about Ironwood, too, he can relate more than anyone there!
